The noseleg pivots on the shaft (F28) which is supported in the small bushes (F27) which are
glued on the inside of (A1) and (A2). These bushes must be in line with each other. As the
undercarriage assembly is narrower than the distance between the bushes, the two spacer
sleeves (F41) have to be fitted on both sides. Install the undercarriage leg and engage the
dowel pin (F3) in part (F23).
1.4.3 Noseleg actuator
Screw the servo in the aperture in (A1) as shown in the drawing. Make up the pushrod from two
ball-links, 4618.55, and the studding (F31); the distance between the ball-links should be about
36 mm (see drawing). Fit an output arm on the servo with a linkage ball attached to it 18 mm
from the output shaft axis. The ball should be on the outside of the arm.
Position the actuating lever (F24) as shown in the drawing, and temporarily tighten the
grubscrews in the collets (F26). Connect the servo to the receiving system; you will need to
connect a Y-lead to the receiver output socket to which the noseleg servo is connected.
Connect a second Y-lead to the other socket on the Y-lead; the two main undercarriage retract
servos will be plugged into the two sockets on this second Y-lead.
Note: the same channel is used for all three retract servos, which means that the electronic
adjustment facilities available at the transmitter (centre position, travels) affect all three servos
together. For this reason it is important to adjust each undercarriage leg mechanically in such a
way that they extend and retract reliably with the common settings of the retract channel. It is
essential that all three units should lock mechanically at both end-points without stalling the
servos.
Move the retract switch on the transmitter to the "undercarriage extended" position, and mount
the servo output arm on the servo as shown in the drawing. Connect the pushrod to the servo
and the retract lever. The noseleg unit should now be securely locked in the extended position,
with the pin (F3) located right at the end of the slot in the undercarriage leg, but without stalling
the servo (servo must not buzz).
