Limited Warranty for Ultra Series RUR98i, RUR98e
What is covered?
The Rinnai Standard Limited Warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship when the product is
i nstalled and operated according to Rinnai writt n installati n instructi ns, subject to the terms within this Limited
Warranty document. This Limited Warranty applies only to products that are installed correctly in the United States
and Canada. Improper installati n may void this Limited Warranty. In order for this warranty to apply, it is required
that you use a licensed professional who has attended a Rinnai installati n training class before installing this water
heater. This Limited Warranty coverage as set out in the table below extends to the original purchaser and
subsequent owners, but only while the product remains at the site of the original installati n. This Limited Warranty
only extends to the rst / original installati n of the product and terminates if the product is moved or reinstalled at a
new locati n.

*1+ Period of coverage is reduced to 3 years from date of purchase when used as a recirculati g water heater within a
hot water recirculati n loop, where the water heater is in series with a recirculati n system and all recirculatin
water ows through the water heater, and where an aquastat / thermostat, timer, or an on-demand recirculati n
system is not incorporated.
*2+ The Rinnai Limited Warranty for a heat exchanger used in a recirculati n system which is controlled through an
aquastat / thermostat, or timer, or an on-demand system is 12 years for residen al applicati ns and 5 years for
commercial applicati ns.
*3+ Period of coverage is reduced to 5 years from date of purchase if the Rinnai water heater temperature se
exceeds 160° F (71° C).
*4+ Labor coverage is extended to 5 years in residentia applicati ns and to 2 years in commercial applicati ns if the
product is registered within 30 days (except registrati n is not required in California and Quebec) and/or if the
other conditi ns above in the Residenti l Applicati ns and Commercial Applicati ns secti ns are sati ed.
What will Rinnai do?
Rinnai will repair or replace the covered product or any part or component that is defec ve in materials or
workmanship as set forth in the above table. Rinnai will pay reasonable labor charges associated with the repair or
replacement of any such part or component during the term of the labor warranty period. All repair parts must be
genuine Rinnai parts. All repairs or replacements must be performed by a licensed professional that is properly
trained, state quali ed or licensed to do the type of repair.
Replacement of the product may be authorized by Rinnai only at its sole discretio . Rinnai does not authorize any
person or company to assume for it any obligati n or liability in connecti n with the replacement of the product. If
Rinnai determines that repair of a product is not possible, Rinnai may replace the product with a comparable product
at Rinnai's sole discreti n. The warranty claim for product parts and labor may be denied if a component or product
returned to Rinnai is found to be free of defects in material or workmanship; damaged by improper installati n, use
or operati n; or damaged during return shipping.
