The unit comes in Dedicated Mode as a factory
Default. If the unit is to be used in Crossover
mode, the following procedure must be followed
for correct opera on.
Cross Over Mode requires that the bypass plug locat-
ed in the hot water outlet assembly be replaced with
the supplied bypass filter (located within the unit)
1. Disconnect the electrical power.
2. Turn o the gas supply.
3. Turn o water supply. Drain all water from the
appliance.
4. Slide o the plastic strips covering the front panel
screws.
5. Remove 4 screws securing the front panel.
Remove front panel.
6. Locate and remove the plastic package
(containing the bypass filter) from the copper
pipe of the heat exchanger. (Figure 1)

Remove the bypass plug assembly from the hot
water outlet under the unit. (Figure 2)
Unscrew bypass plug assembly
Use care when performing the next several steps.
Using excessive force can damage the bypass
plug/ lter.
8. Disconnect the bypass plug from cap by rst
twis ng to unlock the plug and pull away from
cap. (There will be a gasket between the cap and
bypass plug as well as a gasket at the end of the
bypass plug) (Figure 3)
9. Install bypass lter by pushing it onto cap and
twist to lock. (there should now be only one
gasket between cap and filter) (Figure 4)
10. Install filter assembly into hot water outlet.
(Figure 2)
DO NOT discard the plug. Plug is to be retained
should the applica on be changed to a dedicated re-
turn in the future.
