Maintenance
4.2.1 Adjusting the support ring
1. Preset the front and rear support ring to the correct head
size (position A: large head circumference, position B:
small head circumference). Select the same position on
both sides.
4.2.2 Putting on the helmet
When adjusting the helmet, take into consideration whether a
fire escape hood or respiratory protective mask will be used.
1. Put on the fire helmet.
2. Close the chin strap.
3. Adjust the length of the chin strap at the quick-release
buckle. Secure the end of the chin strap with the hook-
and-loop fastener. The chin strap should lie evenly under
the chin.
4. Adjust the length of the neck straps using the adjusting
clamps. The neck straps should lie evenly against the
neck.
5. Keep turning the adjusting wheel until the support ring has
an even, tight fit.
4.2.3 Removing the helmet
1. Keep turning the adjusting wheel until the support ring is
only loosely fitted.
2. Open the chin strap.
3. Remove the fire helmet.
4.3
During use
The helmets do not contain any materials that are known to
trigger allergic reactions. However, in exceptional cases, they
may trigger an allergic reaction in persons with high
sensitivity.
The force of an impact can be transferred from the visor to
corrective glasses and damage the corrective glasses.
Full protection can only be achieved when the face-guard is
engaged in the lowest position.
4.4
After use
Check usability as follows:
– Check the helmet shell, internal helmet components, chin
strap, and accessories. Replace any defective parts.
– Check the visor. The visor should be replaced if there are
any visible signs of damage or impairment of visibility
(e.g., scratches, discoloration).
– Check the coated surface of the fire helmet for any signs
of damage.
6
The self-extinguishing special coating is an important
factor for the thermal performance of the fire helmet.
Damage to the coating may shorten the service life of the
product. Small superficial scratches or damage to the
coating will not impair the level of protection provided by
the helmet. This type of damage can be corrected with
repair varnish.
For reasons of safety, render any fire helmets that cannot be
A
repaired or worn again unusable.
Trained employees or Dräger will be able to determine
B
whether the damaged fire helmet can be used again or is
eligible for repair.
CAUTION
Low level of protection following external impact.
If the fire helmet has absorbed an impact, it may be damaged
or irreparable.
► Even when the damage is not immediately visible, the fire
helmet must be replaced following a strong blow or
impact. Fire helmets that are damaged or have absorbed
an impact must be taken out of service. This also applies
even when there is no external damage visible.
