Separate cleaning of the neck and
ear cover
CAUTION
Protective function of the neck and ear cover is lost
If cleaning agents other than those mentioned in this
document are used for cleaning, the protective function of the
neck and ear cover will be lost.
► Do not use any optical brighteners, chlorinated bleaching
agents, or fabric softeners!
For effective cleaning of the neck and ear guard, the
maximum machine load may not exceed 60 % of the
machine's nominal load.
7.1
Neck and ear cover made of aramid
The neck and ear cover made of aramid can be washed with
other flame-retardant protective clothing, if this clothing can
be washed according to the process detailed below. Wash the
neck and ear cover separately to other pieces of clothing.
1)
The liquor ratio
must be 1:5 during the pre-wash and main
wash.
Recommended detergents:
– Dermasil Plus
– Usona liquid
– Saprit Protect, where applicable
1. Close the hook-and-loop fastenings on the neck and ear
cover, where applicable.
2. Place the laundry in the washing machine (taking note of
the liquor ratio).
3. Pre-wash: Wash the items at a temperature of 60 °C
(140 °F) for 8 min. A pH value of 9 must not be exceeded.
Rotational speed of drum approx. 20 rpm
Dosage: 10 g/kg (0.02 lb/2.2 lb) Usona liquid or 3~4 g/kg
(0.007~0.009 lb/2.2 lb) Dermasil Plus.
4. Main wash: Wash the items at a temperature of 60 °C
(140 °F) for 15 min. A pH value of 9 must not be
exceeded.
Rotational speed of drum approx. 20 rpm
Dosage: 20 g/kg (0.04 lb/2.2 lb) Usona liquid or 2~3 g/kg
(0.004~0.007 lb/2.2 lb) Dermasil Plus.
5. Rinsing: Rinse in cold water for approx. 4 minutes. A liquor
ratio of 1:7 is permitted when rinsing. Detergent residue
can negatively impact the flame-retardant and water-
repellent properties and should be removed completely.
6. Spinning: At a low rotational speed (use the low setting of
the washing machine). Avoid spin drying for extended
periods. (Air dry or use the dryer.)
7. Drying: Leave the neck and ear cover to air dry or use a
drying cabinet. (Duration: 40 min at 65 °C (149 °F).
Prolong drying time if necessary, up to a maximum of
60 min. Do not exceed 70 °C (158 °F).) Protect against
direct sunlight.
1) The liquor ratio is the ratio of the laundry weight or drum capacity to
the amount of cleaning agent (water incl. cleaning agent) in the
machine.

Transport
The fire helmet can be transported in a helmet bag. If the fire
helmet is packed in a PE bag and sufficiently covered in
packaging paper, it can also be transported in a cardboard
box. All parts attached to the fire helmet do not need to be
removed for transport. The visors should be folded up (not in
use position).
9
Storage
Keep the fire helmet cool and dry in a safe place. When
storing the helmet, ensure that it is kept out of direct sunlight
in order to prevent any damage to the coating from UV
radiation (particularly fluorescent colors) in the long term.
Do not store in close proximity to aggressive substances (e.g.,
solvents, fuels).
10
Disposal
10.1 Service life
Check usability after every operation (see "After use",
page 6). The service life of the helmet and the visors depends
on the following:
– Materials used
– Environment in which the helmet is used and stored
– Type of stress
– Proper use
– Compliance with maintenance procedures
Further information is available from Dräger.
10.2 Disposal instructions
Dispose of the product in accordance with the applicable
