EXTRACTING THE BATTERY CASE
Carefully read page 64 (BATTERY)
Make sure that the ignition switch is in
u
position "m".
Remove the front cover, see page 61
u
(REMOVING THE FRONT COVER).
Remove the fuse block (1) from the clip
u
(2).
Release and remove the screw (3).
u
Remove the clip (2).
u
Withdraw the battery case (4) together
u
with the battery.
CHECKING AND CLEANING THE
TERMINALS
Remove the battery case, see on the side
u
(EXTRACTING THE BATTERY CASE).
Check that battery lead connections (5)
u
and battery terminals (6) are:
– in good condition (and not corroded or
covered with deposits);
– covered with neutral grease or Vaseline.
If necessary:
Disconnect first the negative (-) and then
u
the positive cable (+).
Brush with a wire brush to eliminate any
u
sign of corrosion.
Connect first the positive (+) and then
u
the negative cable (-).
Coat the terminals of cables and battery
u
with neutral grease or Vaseline.
REMOVING THE BATTERY
Remove the battery case, see on the side
u
(EXTRACTING THE BATTERY CASE).
Disconnect first the negative (-) and then
u
the positive cable (+).
Remove the battery breather pipe (7).
u
Remove the battery (8), and put it on a
u
flat surface in a cool, dry place.
Once removed, the battery must be
stored in a safe place and kept away
from children.
Refit the battery case, see on the side
u
