TRANSPORT

Before transporting the vehicle, it is
necessary to empty the fuel tank and
the carburetor completely, see below
(DRAINING THE FUEL TANK), making
sure that both are completely dry.
During transport, the vehicle must be
firmly secured in an upright position to
avoid fuel, oil and coolant leaks.
If stranded, do not have the vehicle
towed - contact an emergency road
service instead.

DRAINING THE FUEL TANK

Carefully read page 35 (FUEL)
Risk of fire.
Allow some time for the engine and
muffler to cool down completely.
Fuel vapors are noxious to human
health.
Ensure the area is well ventilated before
proceeding.
Do not inhale fuel vapors.
Do not smoke or use open flames.
DO NOT RELEASE FUEL INTO THE
ENVIRONMENT.
Position the vehicle on the center stand.

Stop the engine and wait until it has
u
cooled down.
Prepare a container large enough to hold
u
the fuel in the tank and place it on the
floor on the left side of the vehicle.
Remove the fuel filler plug.
u
Drain fuel using a manual pump or
u
similar system.
After draining the tank, tighten the filler
plug.
To drain the carburetor completely,
proceed as follows:
Remove the central inspection cover,
u

Remove the central fairing, see page 60
u
(REMOVING THE CENTRAL FAIRING)
Put the free end of the hose (1) into a
u
receptacle.
Working on the front left side of the
u
vehicle, open the carburetor outlet by
loosening the drain screw (2) positioned
under the float chamber.
When all the fuel has flowed out of the
carburetor:
Tighten the drain screw (2) completely.
u
Tighten the drain screw (2) with care to
avoid fuel leakages from the carburetor
during refueling.
