Spray lubricants are diluted with volatile elements, which improve
the creep characteristics. After evaporation, they produce a
residual film of concentrated lubricant at the joint hole, on the joint
pivot as well as on and in between the chain links.
X
Remove dirt and lubricant waste and spray lubricant on the
side of the chain that engages with the sprocket. The
lubrication frequency corresponds to the frequency for
Grease lubrication on page 75.
Bath lubrication requires a closed, oil-tight housing.
X
Make sure the oil is free from impurities, as these increase
wear and tear on the inverted tooth chain.
X
Use an oil level gauge to indicate the optimal filling height.
X
When the machine is not operating, make sure that the
inverted tooth chain joints are completely immersed in oil at
their lowest point. A higher oil level leads to unnecessary heat
and drops in performance.
If you are using the inverted tooth drive in dusty surroundings:
X
Use a filter instead of an air vent plug.
Forced feed lubrication requires a closed, oil-tight housing.
X
Prevent the inverted tooth chain from immersing into the oil
sump.
X
Position the spray valves on the side of the inverted tooth
chain that engages with the sprocket
If you are using the inverted tooth drive in dusty surroundings:
X
Use a filter instead of an air vent plug.
X
Circulate the oil through a filter.
Note on lubricant consumption: About 1.5 l of oil are required per
centimeter of chain width per minute.
