Remote Control Pendant (optional feature)
(Refer to Dwg. MHP0696)
Provides for remote winch control at distances up 18 metres (60 feet) away from the winch motor. Pilot
air hoses connect the pendant to the winch motor to provide winch operation. The pendant control is a
three button movable control station which controls payout, haul in and emergency shut-off. Direction
of winch drum rotation is determined by direction of air flow into the pilot valve. Labels on the pendant
buttons indicate winch operation.
* To ensure accurate winch control when remotely operating the winch at distances greater than 18
metres (60 feet) contact Ingersoll-Rand Technical Sales for control suitability.
Emergency Stop Device
(Refer to Dwg. MHP0695)
The emergency stop device is located at the air inlet of the winch. When activated, winch drum rotation
will immediately cease. The following conditions will activate the emergency stop valve:
1.
Depress (push down) palm valve.
2.
Press emergency stop button on remote control pendant (optional feature).
3.
Loss of supply air.
4.
Overload device activates.
To Reset Emergency Stop Valve:
(Refer to Dwg. MHP0695)
1.
Lift (pull up) palm valve and hold 2 seconds.
2.
Using a small tip screwdriver or similar tool, fully depress (push down) reset button,
located in the center of the palm valve.
Overload Device
An overload device is required on all winches with a rated capacity of over 1 metric ton
(2,200 lbs) used for lifting applications.
The overload device prevents the winch from lifting a load greater than the overload value
listed in the specifications chart. Overload device operation is based on the differential
pressure between the motor inlet and exhaust. The overload device is factory preset to
actuate at 150% (+/- 25%) of rated capacity of the winch. When an overload condition is
sensed air is directed to the emergency shut-off valve to isolate air to the winch.
If the overload device is activated the load must be reduced.
Reset the Emergency Stop Valve and operate the winch in the payout direction to lower the
load.
Winch Brake
Automatic Disc Brake
The automatic disc brake is a spring applied, air released brake. When operated in the payout direction air pressure acting on the diaphragm
overcomes spring pressure and releases the brake. The brake automatically engages when the throttle is returned from the "payout" to neutral
position. When the control valve is placed in the neutral position the brake air is vented and the brake springs reapply the brake. The springs,
which act on the pressure plate, compress the brake plates and engage the brake to prevent drum rotation.
When operated in the haul in direction the brake remains engaged and the cam type sprag clutch allows the drum to rotate.
Disc brake adjustment is not required.
