de care to adults and children, applying the available infor-
mation on the measurements/sizes and required functions/
indications, in line with the information provided by the ma-
nufacturer, and acting under their own responsibility.
Fitting instructions
• Apply the appropriate finger compression, if needed.
• The undersleeve is worn for added comfort and when exu-
date is expected. Instruct the patient to slide the under-
sleeve onto the arm, up to the axilla. The thumb should
show through the undersleeve's thumb hole. It may be nec-
essary to cut a thumb hole in the undersleeve if one is not
already present.
• *To fit the circaid reduction kit arm, slide the sleeve onto
the patient's arm using the two inner bands. The black side
of the material should face the skin and the sleeve should
extend from the wrist to the axilla.
Tip: If the sleeve is too long for the patient, it can be trimmed
by 3 cm and 7 cm. Trim along one of the indicated cut lines on
the black side of the material. Trim the corresponding hook tab
as needed.
*The hand wrap may be applied after the reduction kit arm if
the patient will need to frequently remove the hand wrap for
increased dexterity.
• Adjust the two inner bands to fit snugly on the patient's
arm. The inner bands should not provide compression.
• Trim the excess material from the inner bands and refasten
the bands.
• Starting with the wrist band, pull each band across the arm
and note the amount it overlaps with the opposing side of
the sleeve. Mark the band where it overlaps about 3 cm
with the sleeve and trim the band. Repeat this step with all
of the bands.
• To tighten the circaid reduction kit arm, instruct the pa-
tient to pull the wrist band to a firm and comfortable com-
pression level across the arm and to attach it to the outside
of the sleeve using the provided hook tabs. Be sure the pa-
tient does not tuck the bands under the sleeve. The hook
tab should never make contact with the skin or under-
sleeve. Repeat this process for the remaining bands. In-
struct the patient to angle each band individually to
achieve a snug and wrinkle-free fit while ensuring that
there are no gaps between any of the bands of the garment.
Tip: Once the patient reduces significantly, the garments can
be adjusted to the patient's new size by cutting the bands and
resetting the hook tabs following steps 3-5.
• Bands should be pulled to a firm but comfortable tension to
provide therapeutic compression within the tolerance lev-
el of the patient. If the patient and therapist desire, the BTS
card can be used to identify and record the appropriate
tension settings. It is not required to have all bands set to
the same tension level. If more than one level of tension is
appropriate for treatment, use the BTS card to identify and
record the appropriate tension levels. To do so, align one of
the vertical guidelines on the band being calibrated with
the triangle on the BTS card. Then record where the second
vertical guideline falls. This will allow the patient to safely
repeat the settings on their own, away from the clinic. Re-
cord tension setting for each set of markings so the patient
can easily repeat the process and ensure it is donned to the
same or higher tension.

Reminders for the patient
• The arm component should feel firm and comfortable.
• The patient may readjust the bands as necessary
throughout the day, but should ensure that all vertical
guidelines are set to the appropriate level of tension.
• Each set of vertical guidelines may be at a different
location on the arm depending on the size and shape of the
arm. They do not need to be aligned down the front center
of the arm or in any other specific location on the arm.
• For improved comfort, the patient may slightly loosen the
bands of the arm component for nighttime wear.
• When bands are placed in parallel they should slightly
overlap, leaving no space between bands.
• The arm component should never hurt. If the patient
experiences any pain, the arm component should be
immediately removed and the patient should consult a
physician.
• To fit the circaid reduction kit hand wrap, instruct the pa-
tient to slide the thumb through the thumb hole. The seam
should run along the base of the thumb. The hand wrap can
be worn for either the right or left hand.
• If the hand wrap extends onto the fingers of the patient,
trim along the top edge of the hand wrap so that it lines up
with the base of the fingers. Trim the corresponding hook
tab accordingly.
• Pull the top band across the hand and note the amount it
overlaps with the opposing side of the hand wrap. Mark the
band where it overlaps about 3 cm with the hand wrap and
trim the band. Repeat this step with the other two bands.
• To tighten the hand wrap, instruct the patient to pull each
band to a firm and comfortable compression level and to
attach each band to the outside of the hand wrap using the
provided hook tabs. Be sure the patient does not tuck the
bands under the hand wrap. The hook tabs should never
make contact with the skin or undersleeve.
Removal of the circaid reduction kit
Instruct the patient to detach all bands starting at the top
band of the sleeve. Fold each band back onto itself to keep the
hook material lint free. Do not open the two inner bands to
ease the next application. Slide the hand wrap and sleeve off
the hand and arm. Lastly, slide the undersleeve off the arm.
