4 Fire-fighting System Guidelines
The system must be installed by a specialist installer authorised to install automatic fire-
fighting systems.
WARNING:
The installer must:
• Follow the instructions in this manual
• Comply with the design issued by specialist technicians qualified in the design of fire-
• Use the personal protective equipment provided for in paragraph 1.3 on page 66.
• On completion of the works, issue a declaration of conformity of the system with the design
Installation room
The room must:
• Comply with the requirements of the current directives
• In order of preference, in relation to the building to protect,
• Only intended for fire-fighting protection purposes
• With R 60 walls, if separated from the building, or R, REI or EI 60, if adjoining or inside the
• Sized to allow the use and maintenance of the pump set
• With an average height of 2.4 m (7.8 ft)
• With access
• Ventilated, to
• Maintained at a minimum temperature of 4°C (50°F) and humidity below 80%.
Floor
The floor must be:
• Solid
• Suitable for the size and the weight of the pump set
• As flat and as even as possible, and slightly sloping towards the drains
• Non-slip
• With the pump set support surface raised by at least 8 cm (3 in)
• Waterproof, to prevent the spillage of pollutants.
System requirements
The room must be equipped with:
• Automatic sprinkler fire extinguishing system
• Forced air extraction
• Drain pump
• Floor water detector with alarm, if underground
• Single-phase socket
