The expiratory valve (ref. KY133900)
is for use with OSIRIS exclusively.
12
Autoclavable patient circuit (optional)
An autoclavable patient circuit, composed of:
•
with its control tube (2),
•
To carry out maintenance procedures on the patient
circuit, refer to the user manual (§IV.4 for OSIRIS 3)
Setting up
• Connect one end of the ringed tube onto the outlet of the
OSIRIS 3 (standard conical outlet, 22 mm diameter).
• Whenever possible, fit a new bacteriological filter onto
the "patient" output of the expiratory valve.
• Connect the other end of the ringed tube to the input of
the expiratory valve (see schema below).
• Connect the OSIRIS 3 control to the diaphragm of the
expiratory valve via the small diameter open-ended tube.
When the connections are finished check that the small di-
ameter tube is not pinched.
• Connect the flow rate sensor to the valve's patient outlet:
blue tube on patient side.
The tubes (blue and colourless) of the pressure loss
sensor must be systematically pointed upwards.
• Connect the sensor tubes to their respective nozzles.
• If required, connect the bacteriological filter to the sensor.
When used in the recovery room or for prolonged
ventilation, Air Liquide Medical Systems recommends
that you use a hydrophobic filter; in this case, continuous
supervision by a qualified medical professional is required.
Starting up
• Switch to the operating mode required; VAC/ACMV
100 % or VAC/ACMV Air + O2 or VS-AI/PS.
Check that the alarm circuit is working when starting
Expiratory
up OSIRIS 3. All the lamps should flash and an audible
valve control
signal should sound.
• Set the Pmaxi alarm threshold. Then close off the patient
outlet and check visually on the bargraph that the patient
circuit pressure is limited to (Pmax) (Pmax adjustable from
10 to 80 cm H
• In VS-AI/PS mode, check that the selected pressure val-
ue (2nd line of the PImax display) is close to the peak pres-
sure displayed on the bargraph to be sure that the sensor
is working correctly.
• Check that everything is working normally (see checklist
before use).
The unit is ready and may be connected to the patient.
• Connect a mask, intubation probe fitting, or tracheotomy
cannula to the flow sensor fitting.
If the case of any abnormal functionning of OSIRIS 3, refer
to the paragraph "Operating incidents".
