1. To ensure safe, efficient use of the equipment, carefully read
this manual and strictly apply the operating and safety rules
given prior to use of the equipment.
2. This manual must be passed on or kept available to all users
of the equipment. Additional copies can be provided by
Tractel
®
SAS on request. The equipment has a service life of
10 years.
3. Use, maintenance and management of the equipment must
be placed under the responsibility of persons perfectly
familiar with the applicable safety regulations and standards
for these systems and associated equipment, and having the
necessary authority to have the regulations and standards
applied. This manual must be read and fully understood by
all users prior to use of the equipment. This person must
ensure that the associated personal protective equipment is
compatible.
4. Whenever use of the equipment is entrusted to employee or
hired personnel, make sure all applicable work regulations
are applied.
5. Each user should have a personally-assigned harness, in
particular where salaried employees are concerned.
6. The Faba HT harnesses are fall arrest harnesses with work
position holding belt compliant with standards EN 361 and
EN 358. This equipment must only be used by a single
person, appropriately trained and/or skilled in use of such
equipment, or by a worker directly monitored by such
persons.
7. All persons using the Faba HT harness must satisfy the
physical and professional aptitude requirements for work at
heights. If you have any doubt, contact the person's health
physician or the company health physician. Personnel
working at heights must have completed an appropriate
theoretical and practical training course under risk-free
conditions associating the Personal Protective Equipment in
compliance with the applicable safety requirements. The
training course must fully cover the sections of this manual
concerning use of the harness. Use of this device by
pregnant women is prohibited.
8. The Faba HT harnesses must only be used to secure a
person working at heights in compliance with the instructions
given in this manual. No other use of the harness is
authorised : for example, bungee jumping.
9. An initial suspension test is recommended at a safe location
to ensure that the harness is perfectly adjusted and provides
an acceptable level of comfort for the purpose for which it will
be used.
10. The Faba HT harness must be used in association with fall
arrest Personal Protective Equipment connected to it. A fall
arrest harness (EN 361) is the only type of body harness
allowable for use by a person performing work at heights.

12. Contact Tractel
®
SAS prior to any use of the equipment in an
environment for which a specific risk has been identified, in
particular, but not limited to, friction against a sharp edge,
corrosive environment or environment having a chemical
®
risk, explosive environment, environment having an electrical
risk, radiation risk, etc.
13. Each time before use, visually inspect the harness and the
associated Personal Protective Equipment to make sure it is
in good operating condition. Also make sure that the
equipment is compatible and correctly set up and connected
in compliance with the requirements of their respective
manuals.
14. Before using the equipment covered by this manual, make
sure there are no obstacles along the fall path or any risk of
contact with a dangerous object.
15. For the safety of the user, it is essential that the device or the
anchoring point is positioned correctly and that the work is
conducted in a manner so as to reduce to a minimum any risk
of fall and any danger linked to the height.
16. In a fall arrester system, it is essential to verify, prior to each
use, the free space under the user on the workplace, to avoid
any risk of collision, in the case of a fall, with the ground or
with any obstacle found in its path. Refer to the manual for
the fall arrester used (F1), and for the lifeline used (F) to
obtain a minimum drop height and add a safety distance of
1 m.
C
T = F + F1 + 1m
17. In a fall arrest system, it is imperative to check the free space
under the user on the worksite before each use to ensure, in
the event of a fall, that there is no risk of hitting the ground or
any obstacle on the fall path. The drop height must be
sufficient.
18. The equipment covered by this manual is designed for use at
temperatures of between – 35° C and 60° C.
19. The equipment must be transported and stored in its original
packaging.
20. Should you visually observe any defect or have a doubt
concerning the condition of the equipment, be sure to log this
information to prevent use of the equipment prior to repair,
following which, use must be authorised in writing by a
skilled, trained technician. Return any equipment showing
any damage or for which you have any doubt to Tractel
or to an approved Tractel distributor.
21. The equipment should be inspected periodically, at least
once every 12 months, by a qualified technician trained for
this purpose and qualified to authorise re-use of the
equipment in writing. The necessary training can be provided
by Tractel
®
