Operating manual
5.1. SURFACE CONDITION OF THE SUPPORT AND STRIPPING PART
The insert welding must be carried out on a support part free of grease. It is also necessary to strip
this support piece if it has a chemical treatment (zinc layer for galvanized steel, anti-corrosive for
steels that have undergone heat treatment, alumina for aluminium).
Welding of inserts, and particularly aluminum parts, must be carried out on a flat support part.
5.2. THICKNESS OF THE SUPPORT PLATE ACCORDING TO THE DIAMETER OF THE STUD
With the exception of specific applications related to automotive bodywork (fitting a pull ring, the thickness of the sup-
port sheet must not be less than ¼ of the diameter of the base of the insert in the case of steel , and ½ of the diameter
in the case of aluminum.

5.3. WELD POOL PROTECTION
Depending on the material to be welded, protection of the weld pool by ceramic ferrule or by gas protection may be
necessary.
The table below lists the recommended gas to use depending on the part to be welded and its material. These gases
maximize weld strength and correspond to the gas to be used when the machine is operating in Synergic Mode (see
§8.1).
This table is given as an indication, preliminary welding tests are recommended.
