CHAPTER 4 SAIL (Sailplane)

NOTICE: Refer to your sailplane manual for recommended control throws.
CAUTION:
Always do a Control Test of your model with the transmitter after programming to
make sure your model responds as desired.

Sailplane Type

Use the Sailplane Type Screen to select wing and tail types to
match your sailplane model. Diagrams and setup names show
on the transmitter screen to show the available setups.
Refer to community.spektrumrc.com for more information about
new DX18 firmware updates to support these options.

Trim

In Sailplane mode, under trim setup the elevator is in F Mode
while all the others are Common. This is set by default in

Camber Preset

This is only available when 2 or 4 aileron wing type is selected
in Sailplane Type. The Camber Preset function allows each
aileron, each flap and the elevator to be programmed (preset)
to a specific position for each flight mode. If no flight modes are
activated in Flight Mode Setup only one preset is available and
it is always active. A speed function is also available that causes
the surfaces to transition from each programmed position when
changing flight modes with a delay of up to 30 seconds. For
example, in launch mode, typically about 15 degrees of down
flap, 10 degrees of down aileron (flaperon) and some up elevator
are programmed. This provides increased lift allowing for
maximum launch height. In Speed mode, typically a few degrees

Camber System

Camber System is only available when 2 or 4 aileron wing type
is selected in Sailplane Type. The Camber System allows in-flight
camber adjustments and is also used as the braking system
(often referred to as Crow or Butterfly). The Camber System can
be assigned to different levers or the spoiler stick, independently
in each flight mode. For example, in thermal mode the Left Lever
can be used to accurately raise or lower the flaps and ailerons
(camber) to optimize flight performance. In landing mode, you
can assign the Camber System to the Spoiler stick for landing
brakes. An offset is also provided in each flight mode, allowing
the stick or lever neutral position to be programmed.

The up and down values can be programmed independently.
If no flight modes are activated in Flight Mode Setup, only one
