PASSY-MUIR VALVE OXYGEN ADAPTER: available (sold separately) for use with the
PMV 2000 (Clear) and PMV 2001 (Purple) Speaking Valves.
• Designed for use with the companion PMV 2000 Series Speaking Valves: Passy-Muir Low
Profile - Lower Resistance PMV 2000 (Clear) and PMV 2001 (Purple) Speaking Valves. It is not
indicated for any other use or with any other speaking valve.
• Tracheostomized patients utilizing the PMV 2000 and PMV 2001 Speaking Valves and requiring
portable, low flow, supplemental oxygen (<6L/min).
• Mechanically ventilated patients during periods of time they are off the ventilator and requiring
portable, low flow, supplemental oxygen (< 6L/min).
• Delivery of oxygen up to 6L/min.
• Oxygen is delivered in front of the diaphragm of the Passy-Muir Valve. This avoids complications
that may be associated with providing continuous flow behind the diaphragm of a speaking
valve, which may include air trapping, drying of secretions and possible cilia damage.
• Allows for improved mobility of patients requiring low flow, supplemental oxygen and humidity.
• Small, lightweight design.
• Easy snap-on attachment that is easily removed when not in use.

When using PMVs with ventilator dependent patients all previous instructions, warnings Fig. 1
and cautions should be carefully reviewed and incorporated with the following ventilator
application guidelines:
The PMV 005 (White), PMV 007 (Aqua), PMV 2000 (Clear) and the PMV 2001 (Purple) can
be used with acute care and portable ventilators and in conjunction with most
conventional modes of ventilation.
The PMV 005 (White), PMV 007 (Aqua), PMV 2000 (Clear) and PMV 2001 (Purple) can be
used interchangeably on or off the ventilator depending upon the type of ventilator
tubing. The PMV 005 (White), PMV 2000 (Clear) and the PMV 2001 (Purple) have a 23mm

outer diameter (O.D.) and must be used with short, wide mouth, flexible, non-disposable
(rubber) ventilator tubing. The PMV 007 (Aqua) which has a 22mm O.D. is designed to fit
directly into disposable ventilator tubing and can also be used with wide mouth, flexible
non-disposable (rubber) tubing.
WARNING: DO NOT USE PMV 005 (WHITE), PMV 2000 (CLEAR) OR PMV 2001 (PURPLE)
WITH DISPOSABLE VENTILATOR TUBING AS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR
DISCONNECT. USE WITH WIDE MOUTH, FLEXIBLE, NON-DISPOSABLE (RUBBER)
TUBING.
