5.4 The Thermo Mini ISOCAP connector
system
The Thermo Mini ISOCAP connector system from HBM
gives you the option to use standardized Mini Thermo
couplings and make them safe to touch, thus fully-pro­
tecting the user from risk related to electric shock.
The Thermo Mini ISOCAP connector system is intended
solely for connecting measuring leads to a device. The
end of the lead with the temperature or voltage probe
may be at a dangerous electric potential within the limits
stated in the specifications, the dangerous locations and
surfaces must therefore be sufficiently protected to pre­
vent accidental touching. The Thermo Mini ISOCAP con­
nector system must not be continued or adapted to other
connectors.
The Thermo Mini ISOCAP connector system is approved
for couplings with an overall length of 25.2 to 26.8 mm
(long design with strain relief) and for couplings from 19.8
to 20.8 mm (short design); an appropriate spacer is fitted
in keeping with the length of the coupling.
A measuring lead tested according to IEC 61010-031 and
approved for use in conjunction with the Thermo Mini
ISOCAP connector system is required for the Thermo
Mini ISOCAP connector system.
A cable compliant with the requirements can be obtained
from HBM, either by the meter, or in defined lengths with
different fittings. This measuring lead has an intermediate
sheath to indicate wear.
The Thermo Mini ISOCAP connector system is designed
for the following insulation requirements (the voltage
details apply for DC or for AC rms with peak values up to
a maximum of 1.5 Urms):
