Operation
- Rest the mobile part of the sensor (cylindrical
sensor) in the tyre furrow where the tread thickness
is to be measured. Press the measurement sensor
so that the fl at part is in contact with the tread,
pushing the probe into the sensor (see Fig. 53c).
To obtain a precise reading, the fl at part of the sensor must be placed at right angles as
far as possible to the point to be measured.
- The tread depth is indicated on the display in
millimetres and in inches (see Fig. 53d).
- The background changes colour to immediately
indicate the status of conformity to the highway
code, in relation to the thickness measured:
White
tyre in good condition, tread depth > 4
mm.
Orange tyre in moderate condition, tread
depth between 3.9 mm and 2 mm.
Yellow
tyre approaching wear limit, replacement recommended, tread depth between
1.6 mm and 1.9 mm.
Red
tyre must be replaced, tread depth < 1.6 mm.
- Press the
button (see Fig. 53d) to exit the TREAD DEPTH SENSOR function and
return to the main screen.
