Keep the cable lengths and plug connections to a minimum in your boat installation.
Also pay careful attention to correct insertion and screw fitting of all plugs.
This throttle may be used only in conjunction with a TorqLink-compatible motor and
Power 48-5000 batteries.
7. Commissioning
- Do not put the system into operation until all components are fully
and correctly fitted and connected. Arrange for a specialist to check
the installation first.
- The boat must be in the water for commissioning. Ensure that there is no one in
the water near the boat prior to commissioning.
Throughout the entire commissioning process, the boat must have a secure line
mooring to land. The commissioning process must be fully completed without
faults before using the Torqeedo drive for the first time.
- Always use the latest software for this throttle. You can carry out a software
update yourself using a smartphone. Further information about available updates
and the update process can be found on the product page for the throttle at
www.torqeedo.com.
System initialisation
Once the system has been fully installed in the boat, the initial start must be carried out
with the charge pulse.
To do this, insert the charger plug into a suitable socket, then switch on the mechanical
main switch or the system at the throttle. It is advisable to charge the batteries fully
before continuing with commissioning. If you are using a fast charger, you can then
reduce the maximum charging current on the menu (Main menu
Charging current).
Switching the system on
Then switch on the mechanical main switch, attach the emergency stop magnetic pin and
press and hold the I/0 button until the throttle display comes on.

Checking the message log
You can open the message log under: Main menu
Check that there are no warnings (yellow) or faults (red) in the message log. If there are
no messages of this sort, check the system layout and restart the system. If there are still
warnings or faults present, follow the instructions on the display and in the operating
instructions for the relevant component.
If you cannot rectify faults in this way, contact Torqeedo Service.
Checking the GPS function
Check that a number appears in the display area for the GPS speed (e.g. 0 km/h or 0 kn).
In order to ensure perfect GPS reception, the boat should be out in the open (and not
under a bridge, for example, or in a hall).
Checking the drive function
Move the throttle very slightly forward and back and check that there is tension on the
corresponding mooring line. Be careful of surrounding boats and structures as you do so
in order to avoid damage.
Checking the safety shut-off
Check that the safety shut-off is functioning correctly by removing the emergency stop
magnetic chip from the throttle after moving the lever very slightly.
Check that the drive power has been shut off.
