Engine does not start.
SYMPTOM
Fuel is not reaching
the carburetor.
Fuel is reaching the
carburetor.
Starter motor does
not operate.
Starter motor
operates.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
There is no gasoline in the
fuel tank.
To check, loosen the drain
screw. Fuel should flow
freely (see page 88).
Fuel filter is clogged.
Fuel pipe arrangement is
frozen.
Carburetor is flooded.
Carburetor is clogged.
Gasoline spoiled.
Gasoline contains water.
Battery is dead.
Fuse is blown.
Battery terminal is
disconnected.
Drive clutch lever is
squeezed or auger clutch
switch is pressed when
starting.
Fouled spark plug.
Loose spark plug cap.
Spark plug is damaged.
No or low oil level.
Frozen auto choke system.
Warning indicator is on.
REMEDY
Refuel (see page 31).
The fuel valve is an auto-valve.
If the gasoline left over in the event of an
engine shut down is drained manually,
the fuel should flow freely again.
Consult an authorized Honda dealer.
Refuel with fresh gasoline.
Drain fuel tank and carburetor
(see page 88).
Refuel (see page 31).
Charge the battery or replace
(see page 83 and 89).
Replace the fuse (see page 86).
Connect the battery terminal
(see page 85).
Release the drive clutch lever
and do not press the auger
clutch switch (see page 68).
Clean or replace the spark plug
(see page 76).
Install the spark plug cap
securely (see page 77).
Replace the spark plug (see
page 76).
Check the engine oil level and
add oil to the upper level if
necessary (see page 34).
Auto choke malfunction can be suspected.
Restart the engine by operating the manual
start lever (see page 39).
Turn the engine switch to the OFF position
and turn it to the ON position again. If the
indicator comes on again, the starter motor
can be faulty. Consult with your authorized
Honda snowblower dealer.
