Operating the instrument
3.1
Switching on the instrument
1 Use the main switch on the right-hand side of the instrument to switch the instrument to standby mode.
A red LED in the lower left corner of the screen indicates that the instrument is in standby mode.
2 Tap the screen to start the MACSQuantify Software.
3 A login window appears.
For a detailed instruction how to use the MACSQuantify Software, refer to the MACSQuantify Software user
manual.
3.2
Switching off the instrument
1 Shut down the software before switching off the instrument. Shut down the software manually, or enable
an automatic shutdown function. Refer to Automatic shutdown below.
3.2.1
Manual shutdown
1 Click the Main instrument control button at the upper right corner of the screen.
2 Select Instrument off to switch the instrument to standby mode, or select Data analysis to proceed with
data analysis after the shutdown procedure. After a seven-minute washing procedure, the instrument is in
standby or data analysis mode.
3 To switch the instrument from data analysis mode into standby, click the Main instrument control button
at the upper right corner of the screen and select Instrument off.
4 Optional: If in standby mode, switch off the instrument completely using the main power switch at the
right-hand side of the instrument.
3.3
Automatic shutdown
By default, automatic shutdown is enabled. If the instrument is idle for a preset amount of time, it will
automatically shut down or, alternatively, switch into data analysis mode to elongate diode lifespan of the
lasers. Refer to the MACSQuantify Software user manual for information about the data analysis mode.
1 To modify the automatic shutdown settings, log in as an administrator.
2 Go to Edit > Options (default) > Software > Timers.
Standby timer: defines the idle time before automated shutdown begins

Shutdown timer: defines the incubation time during the shutdown procedure (5 minutes is recommended)
