    In order to ensure electromagnetic compliance, only use the power cable and the keypad included in delivery. Only use connector cables less than 3 m in length. Use the keypad with MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter models only.

    The high-frequency fluidic valves embedded in the closed cartridges have a microsecond range of valve opening and closing cycles. The MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter can reach a sort rate up to 30,000 valve actuations per second (results depend on input sample and Poisson statistics).

    MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter. 3 Lift the MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter out of its box. CAUTION! Two people are required to lift the instrument. Take care to avoid personal strain or injury, especially avoid crushing fingers when you put the instrument down.

    Scanning a cartridge Use only cartidges from Miltenyi Biotec. Cartridges are for single-use only. For proper disposal of cartridges, follow local regulations and carefully read the chapter Important safety information . Do not touch the chip on the cartridge. The cartridges are equipped with a 2D code. Scan the cartridge prior to use. Refer to the respective data sheet for further information.

    Replaceing fuses To prevent electrical damage on the internal components of the MACSQuant Tyto Cell Sorter, two fuses protect the current input and output line of the instrument. The fuse box is located on the rear side of the instrument between the power switch and the power socket ( Figure 1.2 ) and is accessible for users.

The sort channel is clogged The valve is moving but cells are not moving down the sort channel. This can occur if an air bubble ( Figure 5.4 , A) or debris ( Figure 5.4 , B) clogs the sort channel.
