 If the drive chain is too tight or too loose, have the chain slack adjusted by an authorized SYM dealer.
 Mount the outer lower chain guard to restore.
Tightening torque
Outer lower chain guard bolt: 1.2 kgf-m
Also inspect the two sprockets. If either has worn or damaged teeth, have the sprockets replaced by an
authorized SYM dealer.
NOTE :
• Use of a new chain with worn sprockets can cause unnecessary chain wear.
Drive Chain Lubrication
The drive chain must be cleaned and lubricated at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance table
to prevent deterioration of chain seals. The drive chain will quickly wear out especially when riding in dusty
or wet areas. Clean and lubricate the drive chain with sealed chain cleaner and lubricant as follows.
 Remove the front lower chain guard (page 42).
 Clean the drive chain with sealed chain cleaner and a soft brush.
 Wipe the chain dry.
 Lubricate the drive chain thoroughly with sealed chain lubricant. Wipe off excessive lubricant on the
drive chain and the rear tire.
 Mount the lower chain guard to restore.
NOTE :
• Clean and lubricate the drive chain after riding in rain or wet areas.
• Do not clean the drive chain with high pressure water or any other inappropriate method.
• Do not use engine oil or any other lubricants for the chain, they may contain substances could damage
the sealed chain.
