b) Programming the special functions
The speed controller comes preprogrammed with the most practical default factory settings.
If a LiPo battery as drive battery s used, you should check the basic setting of the speed controller to see
if the undervoltage protection is activated (normally 3.0 V/cell). Otherwise, when undervoltage detection is
turned off, a deep discharge of LiPo battery occurs, which will destroy it.
If a NiMH drive battery is used, you should disable the undervoltage detection or set it to a lower value
compared to the LiPo battery.
Programming can be performed very easily via the set-up button.
Proceed to programming as follows:
• Turn on the transmitter, if not done so already.
• Turn off the speed controller („OFF").
• Press and hold down the set-up button (B) next to the
on/off switch (A) and then turn on the speed controller
(„ON").
Continue to hold down the set-up button (B), do not re-
lease it.
• On the speed controller, the LED flashes red and the
motor generates beep tones (continue to hold down the
set-up button).
• After some time, the LED flashes in green (continue to hold down the set-up button).
The number of the green flashing signals (once ..... five times) indicates which setting function is currently selec-
ted.
LED flashes 1 x green + 1 beep tone:
LED flashes 2 x green + 2 beep tones: motor brake
LED flashes 3 x green + 3 beep tones: undervoltage detection for LiPo
LED flashes 4 x green + 4 beep tones: start mode at drive off
LED flashes 5 x green + 5 beep tones: braking force
The beep tones are generated by a short activation of the brushless motor. However, depending on the
motor, this beeping is very low. Then, please pay attention to the LED display on the speed controller.
• When the desired mode,which you want to change is displayed (e.g. undervoltage protection, the LED blinks three
times green + three beep tones from the motor), release the set-up button.
• Now the LED flashes again in red. The number of red flashing signals shows you which setting value is active (e.g.
undervoltage protection 3.0 V/cell, LED flashes briefly four times in red + four beep tones from the motor).
• By pressing briefly the set-up button, you can change the setting value, the number of red flashing signals of the
LED (and the beep tones from the motor) change accordingly.
• To exit the setting mode and to save the configuration, turn off the speed controller. Afterwards it is ready with the
new settings when you turn on again the speed controller.
• When another setting needs to be changed, proceed again as described above.
