istic" symbol [R] blink, alter the adjustment by
means of the central control [17].
• Operate button [14] once, the "display mode"
symbol [S] blink, alter the adjustment by means
of the central control [17].
• Set the ultrasound intensity by means of the in-
tensity control [19].

Position the ultrasound treatment head on the
patient (using gel as a contact medium).
• As soon as adequate acoustic contact has been
established, the current amplitude can be in-
creased [18].
General
Frequently used equipment settings can be stored
under the program numbers 0 to 9. The program
numbers are shown on the display, after operation
of button [16] (Sonopuls 491) or [12] (Sonopuls 490).
With the exception of the current amplitude, all set-
ting can be programmed, including the frequencies
of the ultrasound treatment heads connected.

Set the required settings which need to be pro-
grammed.
• Operate button [12] once, the "memory retrieve"
symbol [N] blink, select, by means of the central
control [17], a program number (the display will
show the settings which are now stored under
that number).
• Operate button [12] once, the "memory store"
symbol [O] blink. The display will now show your
new settings which need to be stored.
• Operate button [15] to confirm the storage of the
new settings (and overwrite the old settings). The
confirmation must be done before the "memory
store" symbol stops to blink.

Interrupting the procedure
If the program button have been operated (deliber-
ately or accidentally) the procedure can be inter-
rupted by pressing any other button, with the excep-
tion of the program button or confirm button.
Program 0; a special program
After the unit has been switch on, and the self-test
has been completed, program 0 is selected auto-
matically. A preferred program has been entered in
the factory. This can be replaced by your own pre-
ferred settings by following the above procedure. The
unit will then automatically start by selecting your
preferred program.
