[16] Memory button - Sonopuls 491
With this push-button a choice can be made to re-
trieve a program from the memory or to store a pro-
gram into the memory. The program number is
changed by the Central control [17]. For the opera-
tion of the memory, we refer to chapter "operation"
of this manual.
[17] Central control
Regulator for adjusting the parameter values.
[18] Amplitude control
Regulator without end-stop for setting the patient
current.
[19] Intensity control
Regulator without end-stop for setting the ultrasound
intensity.
MULTI-FREQUENCY TREATMENT HEAD
[20] Contact control indicator
The indication ring of the selected treatment head
lights up. In case of sufficient acoustic contact, the
ring extinguishes and ultrasound power is generated.
Connection of the battery charger
• Connect the supplied battery charger to the con-
nector for battery charger [3].
• Connect the battery charger to a wall socket.
Charging before the first use of the unit
The Sonopuls is delivered with a fully charged bat-
tery. We nevertheless advice to charge the battery
for a period of at least 12 hours before the Sonopuls
is used for the first time.
Switching on and self test
• Switch on the unit using the ON/OFF switch [1].
Immediately after switching on, the unit carries
out a self test.
Check that:
• All LED's light up briefly.
• At the end of the test a beep can be heard.
Connecting the accessories
Connect the supplied patient cable to connec-
tion [4].
Connect the supplied multi-frequency treatment
head to connection [5].

TREATMENT HEAD AS CATHODE

The treatment surface of a connected treatment
head is always connected with the negative elec-
trode (cathode) of the electrotherapy channel.
Combination therapy:
Remove the negative electrode (black plug) of
the electrode cable.
The current flows between the positive electrode
(red plug) and the treatment head.
Electrotherapy:
Under no circumstances should the treatment
surface of the ultrasound treatment head come
into contact with the electrodes in the patient cir-
cuit whilst the unit is operating.

Indications (Ultrasound)
conditions affecting joints, bone, muscle tissue;
rheumatoid arthritis (not acute);
affections of the peripheral nerves;
affections of the blood circulation;
affections of the internal organs;
affections of the skin, scar tissue;
Dupuytren's contracture;
open wounds, decubitus ulcer, post-traumatic
conditions.
Absolute specific contra-indications (Ultra-
sound)
eyes;
heart;
pregnancy;
epiphysial discs;
brain tissue;
testicles.
Relative specific contra-indications (Ultrasound)
status post laminectomy;
loss of sensation;
endoprostheses;
tumours;
post-traumatic sequelae;
thrombophlebitis and varices;
septic inflammation;
diabetes mellitus.
Indications (electrotherapy)
Diagnostics, electro palpation for:
pain points;
trigger points;
hyperaesthetic regions;
motor trigger points;
