Burst frequency
Burst TENS is particularly suitable for the treatment
of deeper-lying painful regions (myofascial pain) and
chronic pain. The burst frequency is adjustable be-
tween 1 and 9 Hz.
Frequency modulation (spectrum) and frequency
modulation programs
These parameters are also adjustable within TENS.
As within the interferential current, accommodation
of tissue will be prevented by using frequency modu-
lations and a modulation program. The frequency
modulation can be adjusted in steps between 0 and
180 Hz. The next two frequency modulation pro-
grams are available: 6/6 s and 1/30/1/30 s.

Medium-frequency interrupted direct current (Gi)

This type of current has a high pulse frequency of
8000 Hz and a duty cycle of approx. 95%. In this
way the sensation of the current is experienced less
aggressively than continuous direct current, whereas
the effects are the same.

Combination therapy

Depending on the depth effect desired and the stage
of the disorder, a combination of ultrasound and a
current type is selected. Within the Sonopuls 491, it
is possible to combine ultrasound with the available
current types.

UNIT
(see fold-out sheet at front)
[1] ON/OFF switch
The switch is used to switch the Sonopuls on and
off. The unit operates on the battery and/or battery
charger.
[2] Type number/warning sticker
Provides information on the unit, such as type and
serial number, as well as connection data such as
mains voltage and maximum current consumption.
[3] Connector for battery charger
For the connection of the battery charger
[4] Connection patient cable electrotherapy
Connection for the patient cable supplied with the
unit. This connection can also be used to connect a
Vacotron 560 unit for use with vacuum electrodes.
For combined applications use only Enraf-
Nonius type BF equipment. The very low leak-
age current of this type of equipment ensures
absolutely safe therapy.
[5] Connection treatment head
Connecting point for a large or small multi frequency
treatment head 1 and 3 MHz.
Connection of treatment heads other than the
Enraf-Nonius treatment heads can affect the
safety of the patient and correct functioning
of the equipment, and is therefore not permit-
ted.
[6] Battery charge indicator
The lamp provides a general indication of the bat-
tery charge, there are four indications. The lamp:
lights continuous green : battery fully charged;
lights flashing green
lights yellow *
is out
*
The current output declines slowly, and the unit
switches off automatically. This means that the
treatment cannot be continued. The battery must
be charged as described in chapter "Maintenance
by the user" of this manual.
