Application instructions
Putting on the orthosis
1
Position the orthosis centrally, at waist height, so that the lower back is
covered. The stamped arrows on the inside of the abdominal fastening should
be pointing upward.
2
Slide your fingers from the side into the finger pockets
provided on the abdominal fastening and pull the pockets evenly to the side.
Now pull the fastenings forward.
3
Lift the abdomen slightly from below with
the left half of the fastening and position the right half of the fastening on top
of the left half so that it can be fastened to it.
4
Now grasp the ends of the tensioning strap system on both sides. The
handles on the belt fastening fold out. Pull the tensioning straps to the sides
and away from one another.
5
Bring the belt fastening and eyelet together
around the lower part of the abdomen and attach the hook to the eyelet on the
fastening. You can attach the hook to different rows of eyelets if required, to
vary the compression of the strap system to suit individual needs.
After putting on the orthosis, ensure that there are no creases in the mesh
material. If there are visible creases, pull both abdominal fastenings on the
base support further over each other before fastening them.
Note: When sitting for long periods of time, it is a good idea to loosen the
belt fastening slightly to relieve pressure on the abdomen.
Taking off the orthosis
Undo the belt fastening on the tensioning strap system. Then reach into the
pockets of the abdominal fastening and unfasten the closure. After removing
the orthosis, refasten the abdominal fastening to avoid damage.

Spinova Unload Plus
Technical specifications / parameters
The Spinova Unload Plus is a multifunctional orthosis for the lower back. It is
made up of a base support with corset stays, a back setting device, an
abdominal fastening, a strap system with a belt fastening, a bridging frame,
and an abdominal pad.
Intended use / part of the body this product is used for
The Spinova Unload Plus relieves pressure on the lumbar spine. The bridging
frame distributes (bridges) forces out toward the thoracic spine, pelvis, and
sacral bone. Lordosis ('hollow back') is reduced. The abdominal pad exerts
compression on the abdomen, helping to straighten and relieve the spine. The
bridging frame and the abdominal pad can be inserted or removed, depending
on the progress of treatment, in consultation with your physician.
Indications
• Vertebral displacement, formation of gaps in the vertebral joints
(spondylolysis / spondylolisthesis, grades I and II)
• Wearing of the vertebral joints with unusual flexibility of the joints (facet
syndrome with hypermobility)
• Radiating pain in the lumbar spine area (very severe [pseudo] radicular
lumbar syndrome / very severe lumbar sciatica)
• Narrowing of the spinal canal with symptoms of numbness (lumbar spinal
canal stenosis with paresis [conservative, post-operative])
• Narrowing of the side nerve root canal (foraminal stenosis, lateral)
• Vertebral fractures (fractures of the lumbar spine, relieving the rear edges of
vertebrae)

General instructions
Spinova products come in preset sizes, but can be individually adjusted if
necessary depending on the areas of application (indications) and the patient's
body shape (anatomy). Check the optimal and individual fit of the orthosis
after the first fitting. Practice the correct procedure for putting on the orthosis
with the patient (

). No improper modifications may be made to the
product. Failure to comply with this requirement may adversely affect product
performance, thereby voiding any product liability. The Spinova spine orthosis
is intended for the treatment of one patient only.
Make sure that there are no creases in the orthosis (does not apply to the
Spinova Immo). If creasing occurs, patients should put the orthosis on again
and overlap the two halves of the abdominal fastening more before they are
fastened. Another way to reduce creasing is to adapt the abdominal fastenings
to the patient's body shape.
Individually adjusting the orthosis
Tools required
Scissors, TX 40 Torx key / 0.25 Nm torque wrench recommended (available as
accessories)
Adapting the abdominal fastenings to the patient's body shape
You can adjust the angle and width of the abdominal fastenings to suit
individual requirements. Detach the two abdominal fastenings from the base
support and reposition them on the base support. Any protruding velor fabric
on the base support can be cut off with fabric scissors once the product has
been fitted. Protruding Velcro must be covered with a velor strip to avoid
damage. In principle, you can also cut off the outer Velcro strip completely if it
is not required
