MIL-Status (malfunction indica-
tor light)
The status of the malfunction indicator light
(MIL status) provides an indication of the status
reported ("On" or "Off") by the electronic con-
trol unit with the engine running. This informa-
tion can be used to check correct operation of
the malfunction indicator light.
1. Set the transmission to PARK (automatic) or
NEUTRAL (manual) and apply the handbrake.
2. Ensure adequate ventilation.
3. Switch on the ignition (position 2).
4. Connect the OBD 150 to the vehicle.
Data are read.
5. Start the engine.
6. In the diagnostic menu select "MIL-Status"

For the status of the indicator light (MIL) to
be displayed correctly, the OBD status test
must be performed with the engine running.

The number of trouble codes found includes
both confirmed and permanent codes. It does
not include pending (INC) codes.

The number of monitors with the status "OK"
(Ready), "INC" (Incomplete) or "N/A" (Not
applicable) relates solely to the status "Since
DTCs erased" and not to the status "This
drive cycle".

The "View data" function enables parameters
(PID) of the vehicle electronic control unit to be
displayed in real time. A list of the PIDs support-
ed by the OBD 150 is given in Section 9.

Multiple PIDs may be sent if vehicle is
equipped with more than one computer
module (for example a powertrain control
module [PCM] and a transmission control
module [TCM]. The Tool identifies them by
their identification names (ID) assigned by
manufacturer (i.e. $10 or $1A).
