they have reasonably high tear strength, care should be taken that no
portion of the impression material remains in the interdental spaces
or in the sulcus. Undercuts should, in certain instances, be blocked out
before taking the impression.
Trays
Tray selection depends on impression technique and professional
preference of stock trays, Dual-Arch bite trays or custom trays. For per-
fect adhesion, we recommend applying a thin layer of Coltène® Adhe-
sive or any other brand of adhesive specified for use with polyvinylsi-
loxane impression materials. Apply the proper adhesive to the metal
or plastic tray.
Preparation
1. Remove the white safety bolt from the large foil bag by turning it
clockwise.
Attention: Only use base and catalyst with identical
2. Set up the supporting cartridge. Release the safety clip.
3. Push both foil bags with the premounted adapter heads into the
supporting cartridge. Take care to ensure that the cartridge body
and the adapter head notches are aligned. This ensures optimum
alignment of the outlet channels.
4. Press the adapter heads with the ball of the thumb onto the sup-
porting cartridge until they lock firmly into final position. The foil
bags are automatically pierced by the pin pressing the adapter
heads onto the cartridge.
5. Insert the filled cartridge body into the mixing machine.
6. Switch on the device and extrude sufficient material from the new-
ly pierced tubes to obtain even layer.
7. Assemble the dynamic mixing tip. Take care to ensure the right
alignment and the engagement of the drive shaft. Reposition the

safety clip. Fill the tray. The dynamic mixing tip should always stay
in the material to avoid air bubbles.
8. Do not remove the dynamic mixing tip from the cartridge as it acts
as a seal.
9. Before using again, check that the outlets of the activating heads
are not blocked. Check for proper extrusion of catalyst and base
every time and continue as usual.
10.Remove the empty foil bags including the adapter heads from the
supporting cartridge and dispose of them.
Important: In order to ensure optimum performance, please use only
Coltène/Whaledent® dynamic mixing tips.
Dynamic mixing tip
Disinfect after use by wiping the Mixing Tip with a disinfectant. Store
in horizontal position. Always store the cartridge with the Mixing Tip
attached. This seals the cartridge until it is used again and prevents
number
contamination. Only remove mixing tip directly before the device is to
be used again, check that material is ejected evenly and attach new
Mixing Tip.
Recommendations for use
«double mix technique»
While loading the tray, the dentist may begin to apply the wash-mate-
rial around the preparation. Tray loading and application of wash-ma-
terial around the preparation have to be completed at the same time.
Keep the oral tip immersed in the material at all times to avoid trap-
ping air. Immediately place tray filled with heavy body material into the
patient's mouth. Press for 2–3 s and hold in position until the material is
completely set.

«two step technique»
Please note the following: If a 2-Step «heavy body/wash» technique is
used, the primary impression made with heavy body material, must
be carefully cleaned and dried before use. This will help guarantee
good adhesion between the wash (low viscosity material) and heavy
body tray material.
For extended working time, material can be placed in the refrig-
erator prior to use.
Important
Always wear gloves.
Some latex gloves and surfaces contaminated by these gloves (teeth,
preparations, retraction cords, etc.) may interfere with the setting
process of polyvinylsiloxanes. It may be necessary to use vinyl gloves
or to thoroughly wash, rinse and dry hands (wash for 15 s with a deter-
gent, rinse with water for another 15 s and dry). To determine if your
gloves will interfere with the setting process, extrude a small amount
of material onto the palm of a gloved hand. Close your hand around
the material and see if it sets within the time limits listed above. Com-
pounds containing eugenol or hemostatic substances can also im-
pede perfect setting.
If (H
O
) hydrogen peroxide is used for disinfection, it is recommended

to thoroughly rinse with lukewarm water afterwards in order to avoid
bubble formation.
Check intraorally if the material is completely set before remov-
ing from the mouth.
Disinfection
The impression should be rinsed under running tap water after re-
moval from the mouth. After rinsing, disinfection with a suitable com-
mercial dental disinfectant solution will not affect the impression sur-
face or dimensions. Acrylic trays should be protected against water
absorption.
Optional
The following points should be observed when autoclaving impres-
sions:
1. Only use autoclavable components (e.g. PRESIDENT Tray AC,
Coltène Adhesive AC).
2. Rinse and clean impression thoroughly under flowing, lukewarm
water.
3. Impressions can be autoclaved directly after taking the impres-
sion.
4. Autoclave in steam steriliser at 134°C/ 273°F (Prion program)
Important
When sterilising implant impressions, be sure clarify in advance with
the manufacturer, whether or not the implant components (e.g. im-
pression posts, etc.) are autoclavable.
Fabrication of models
The stone models can be poured after 30 min at the earliest. The im-
pression remains dimensionally stable for a practically unlimited peri-
od of time (for at least 1 week). The surface tension will be reduced
and pouring will be facilitated if the impression is briefly washed out
with a detergent and rinsed thoroughly in lukewarm clear water after-
wards. All industry-standard dental stone model materials (i.e. Fuji-
rock Dental Stone, Hard Rock Dental Stone) can be used.
