Maintenance and cleaning
® This unit contains some precision-made mechanisms in order to achieve a high performance.
Remember to maintain and clean this machine to ensure that it will render years of trouble-free use.
Do not attempt to oil the machine, replace any of its parts or adjust or service its electrical components
since all these actions require expertise and sophisticated equipment.
Consult with your dealer and have
professionals do what is required.
|
® Failure to have the dust and dirt which have accumulated inside the unit removed, the lubricating oil
replenished, the worn parts (such as the heads) replaced and other maintenance and inspection
operations conducted will make it impossible to display quality pictures or perform recordings as designed,
and will reduce the unit's service life. Have your unit maintained and inspected at an early date.
Cleaning the video heads
This unit comes with an auto head cleaning function which automatically reduces the build-up of dirt on the
heads.
However, to improve its reliability, regular cleaning of the video heads is recommended.
Use the
cleaning fluid designated by the manufacturer.
Condensation
Condensation may form on the cylinder if the unit is moved from a cold location to a warm room or operated
in a very humid atmosphere.
The principle invoived is the same as when droplets of moisture form on the
window panes of a warm room.
When condensation forms inside the unit, "zi" flashes on the display, and the VTR will пої operate no matter
which function button is pressed.
|
Take note of the following points.
ө Before inserting a cassette tape, check that "ni" is not flashing оп the display.
* When possible, avoid using the unit where condensation may form.
® Eject the cassette tape before the unit is to be moved.
e When the "1" display flashes, wait (about 2 to 3 hours) with the power on until "w" is cleared from the
display.
e When the "gi" flashing display is cleared, load and run a cassette tape, and check that no trouble occurs.
The formation of condensation is normally a gradual process: this means that "i" may not start flashing
during the first 10 to 15 minutes after condensation begins to form.
When the room temperature or humidity has changed suddenly, wait about 20 minutes before operating the
unit.
