RS-232C specifications
B Send commands and data returned from VTR
Although the response
data (see item 1) in (3)
Receiving format on page 27) is returned when a
command is sent properly, operation may not always
correspond to the executed command even when the
VTR has returned its response.
For instance, when
the play command ([STX] OPL [ETX}) is sent while the
VTR's power is OFF, the return data ([STX] OPL
[ETX])
will be sent
back from the VTR
but the
playback mode will not be established because the
power is off.
In a situation like this, the VTR status can be checked
using the VTR status sense command
([STX] QOP
[ETX]).
Care should
be taken to avoid this kind of mistake
because an error code will be returned from the VTR
and it will take some time to pinpoint the cause of the
error.
1. When the space has been omitted
Example: [STX] SCS : 1425128 [ETX]
in this example, the command
is intended to
search the position on the tape corresponding to
1 hour 42 minutes 51 seconds 28 frames and
then establish the still mode.
However, a space
must be input after [:] for any search in the +
direction.
The correct format of the command is:
[STX] SCS :
1425128 [ETX]
1
Space
2. When the allowable data range is exceeded
Example: [STX] SPT :
1107015 [ETX]
t
In this example, the second data (70) has been
input incorrectly.
A value from 0 to 59 must be input.
. When any of the following commands
has been
sent, the commands
which can be acknowledged
until processing is complete are restricted.
Bear in
mind
that
with
the
exception
of the
special
commands
(апу

code will be returned.

B Interval between a send command
and the next send command
The model AG-5710 is a VTR equipped with multiple
microconrollers.
Time (approx. 150ms) is required to
execute
any command
which causes
the system
control microcontroller inside the VTR
to perform
some
kind of processing since such a command
entails
communication
between
the
RS-232C
interface
microcontroller
and
the system
control
microcontroller inside the VTR.
Listed to the right are the commands which cause the
-
system control microcontroller to perform processing
in some
way: leave ап
interval of at least 150ms
before sending another command from the personal
computer.
