Playback
Still-picture playback
4. A still-picture can be viewed by pressing the
PAUSE/STILL
button during normal
playback.
Normal playback is restored when the PLAY or
PAUSE/STILL button is pressed.
Jog/shuttle playback
5. Press the JOG/SHUTTLE button. (The still-picture
playback mode is now established.)
6. Turn the SHUTTLE ring to select the desired
playback speed in the forward or reverse direction.
7. Turn the JOG dial to locate a particular image.
Other
e When
the
DISPLAY
button
is pressed,
the
approximate remaining tape is displayed in hours
and minutes.
For a display of a more accurate
amount
of the remaining
tape, set the TAPE
SELECT switch to the position which corresponds
with the type of cassette tape used.
-T120:
:
For T30, T60, T90 and T120 cassettes.
T140-T160:
|
For Т140 and T160 cassettes.
e To listen to the sound during cue or review, set the
SEARCH SOUND selector to ON.
Playback images are sometimes distorted when the
tape
movement
becomes
unstable,
i.e. when
fluctuations occur in the tape transport system
operation or in the tape speed.
The picture quality can be improved in such cases
by setting the TBC switch to ON.
When some pre-recorded tapes are played back,
the playback images may shake vertically.
In a
case like this, set the TBC switch to OFF.
The
TBC
function
works
only
during
normal
playback.
Notes:
e The unit switches to normal playback when cue or
review continues for over 10 minutes.
е The unit switches to the stop mode when still-
picture playback continues for over 5 minutes.
e Horizontal noise bars or distortion may arise during
cue or review: this is normal and not indicative of a
malfunction.

e When а tape is played іп the 6H (triple) mode,
horizontal noise bars or distortion may arise or the
color may
become
unstable
and monochrome
images may appear.

e When a tape recorded on another VTR is played
back in the 6H (triple) mode, the picture and sound
quality will deteriorate slightly even if the tracking
has been adjusted.
Auto repeat playback
Repeat playback between tape start and video end
Proceed as follows to initiate repeat playback between
the tape start and end of the video signals.
(Unless
the video signals come to an end on the tape, the tape
will be automatically played from the tape start to tape
end.)
1. Set the AUTO REPEAT switch to ON.

may merely continue
if the
Rewind
control signal is suspended for a shorter
time than that designated.
Notes:
e Keep the SENSOR REC switch at OFF during auto
repeat playback.
e Use the DISPLAY button to set the display to "clock
display" or "counter display."
e The picture may be impaired if repeat playback is
conducted over and over again in a short section of
tape.
The
picture
quality
may
deteriorate
if repeat
playback is continued for an extended period of
time.
Therefore, initiate auto head cleaning by
ejecting the tape.
Use of the following Panasonic
video tapes is
recommended for repeat playback:
VHS tapes:
e NV-T30, T60, T120, T160 series
S-VHS tapes:
e NV-ST60, ST120, ST160 series
