Fan Replacement
Contact with hazardous voltage could result in death or serious injury.
•
Do not attempt to replace fans until power has been removed and 5 minutes have passed to allow
internal voltage to discharge.
In the event that the cooling fans fail and results in a frequent occurrence of Fault 7: Overheated Drive faults,
the fans are replaceable. Refer to
Replacement kits.
There are two types of fans in the drive, Internal (Stirring) fans and External (Heat Sink) fans.
Internal Fan Replacement
Stirring fans circulate air inside the drive. They connect to the Control Board at connectors (1). Fans are
secured by screws, one in each corner of the fan. There is a Power Board Stirring fan, and a dV/dt Filter Stir-
ring Fan.
Risk of damage to drive
•
Frame 2 stirring fans direct airflow towards the circuit boards.
Frame 3 stirring fans direct airflow away from the circuit boards
•
The fan's airflow direction is embossed on the side of the fan.

External Fans Replacement
External fans push air over the cooling fins of the Power Board
heat sink. They connect to the Control Board at connectors (4).
1.
Remove power from the drive and wait 5 minutes.
2. Disconnect the incoming power from terminal block (2).
Install protective wire nuts onto the end of each wire.
3. Disconnect the motor wires from terminal block (3). Install
protective wire nuts onto the end of each wire. This allows
for unobstructed access to the External Fans assembly.
4. Disconnect the External Fans assembly wires from terminal
block (4).
5. Remove the screws from the External Fans assembly.
6. Slide out the existing External Fans assembly and set aside.
Slide in the replacement External Fans assembly. Secure
with the screws removed in step 5. Tighten to 10 in-lbs
(1.1 Nm).
7.
Route the wires to terminal block (4). Connect the red fan
wire to (+), the black fan wire to (-), and the blue fan wire to
(P) for each fan. Tighten to 3 in-lbs (0.35 Nm).
Always verify that any replacement fans are spinning after
installation of the Fan Replacement Kit.
1.
Power up the drive.
2. Visually verify that the fans are spinning.
3. Power off the drive.
4. Replace the cover.
