Branch Circuit Protection
Integral solid state short circuit protection does not provide branch circuit protection. Branch circuit protec-
tion must be provided in accordance with the National Electrical Code and any additional local codes, or the
equivalent. Drive shall be protected by fast-acting Class T fuses only.

Maximum Torque
Do not use power tools to tighten terminal block screws, use hand tools only. Tighten terminal block screws
to a maximum torque of:
AWG 20 to AWG 6 - 12 in-lbs (1.35 Nm)
AWG 20 to AWG 2 - 31 in-lbs (3.5 Nm)
AWG 16 to AWG 2/0 - 50 in-lbs (5.5 Nm)
Input (Power) Wire and Fuse Sizing
Verify that the dedicated branch circuit for the drive is equipped with a properly-sized fast-acting Class T
fuse. This table includes single-phase input for 230V drives.

Wire sizes based on a 3% voltage drop.
Bold
numbers with gray background indicate wire sizes that are larger than the maximum wire rating of the drive's
terminal blocks. External junction box is required to splice cable sizes.
Input Fuse
SubDrive Connect Plus models are suitable for use with fast-acting Class T fuses only.
Generator Sizing
Generator sizes noted above are a minimum recommendation.
1-Phase: Generators should be sized such that their Prime Rating for current capability (typically specified with a
power factor of 1.0) exceeds 150% of the Rated Input Amps for the SubDrive Connect Plus model being used.
3-Phase: Generators should be sized such that their Prime Rating for current capability (typically specified with a
power factor of 0.8) exceeds the Rated Input Amps for the SubDrive Connect Plus model being used.
