Periodic Maintenance
Airflow Channel Cleaning

Risk of
•
Power off the drive for at least 5 minutes to allow internal voltage to discharge.
•
The airflow channel shall be serviced by a qualified serviceman.
•
Never attempt to clean the airflow channel using a directed water spray (hose).
•
Never reach into the airflow channel.
Cleaning Procedure
1.
Power down the drive and wait 5 minutes for internal voltage to discharge.
2. Use an air compressor, air blower, or long-handled brush to remove debris from the airflow channel (1).
3. Power up the drive to test that the fans operate as intended.
If the airflow channel (1) continues to contain debris:
1.
Remove the screws from the cover, and remove it from
the drive. Set aside.
2. Refer to
"External Fans Replacement" on page 45
remove the External Fans module and gain access the
airflow channel.
3. Remove debris from the airflow channel.
4. Once the airflow channel is clean, replace the External
Fans module to the airflow channel.
5. Power up the drive to visually verify that the fans are
spinning. Power down the drive after verifying that the
fans spin.
6. Replace the cover and secure to the drive using all the
screws removed in step 1.
