13 Mounting and connecting the optical sensors
The optical sensors must be mounted on the designated mounting location in the Robotino 4.0 loading bay
and connected to the I/O interface.
Required tool:
•
2.5 mm and 3 mm internal hexagon
•
10 mm open-ended spanner
•
3 mm Phillips screwdriver
1. Preassembling sensors
All components for the diffuse sensors must be pre-assembled before they are attached and connected
to Robotino 4.0. Each sensor requires one fiber-optic unit, one fiber-optic cable and one bracket for the
fiber-optic cable.
Fiber-optic cable bracket (1), mounting slots (2), fiber-optic cable (3), fiber-optic unit (4), retaining screw (5)
First, cut both fiber-optic cables to the required length. Be sure to use a fiber-optic cable cutter to avoid
destroying the fiber optic cable and ensure proper operation. Screw the head of the fiber-optic cable
into the bracket until it protrudes about 2 mm on the opposite side. Secure it with the supplied nut.
Make sure that both sensors are ultimately on the side of the slots that are adjacent to each other.
Otherwise you will not be able to change the distance between the sensors.
Now insert the free ends of the fiber-optic cable into the black mounting fixture of the fiber-optic unit.
Insert the fiber-optic cables until you feel resistance.
Tighten the mounting fixture using the Phillips screw.
