2.1 Function
This locomotive comes with a
built-in digital high-efficiency
propulsion and digital sound
effects and offers these features:
• Operation with the following
modes of operation:
I. AC power with the Märklin
transformer 32 VA (6646/6647).
II. Conventional DC power
(max. 18 volts DC).
III. Multi-train operation with the
Märklin Delta Station (6607).
IV. Multi-train operation with the
Märklin 6021 Control-Unit.
It is not possible to run this locomotive
with other operating systems
(pulse width control, the earlier
Märklin Central-Control 1 [6030], etc.).
• Automatic recognition of the multi-
train systems. Operation with AC
or DC power is manually selected
with a switch in the tender. The
locomotive comes from the factory
with the mode of operation set for
"AC power".
• 80 different digital addresses can
be set with the coding switches.
Address set at the factory: 01.
• Built-in addition function decoder
in the locomotive for activating
other auxiliary functions in digital
operation. 80 different digital
addresses can also be set on
this decoder. Address set at the
factory: 02.
• Manually adjustable maximum
speed. The maximum adjustable
maximum speed is somewhat
lower than the scale speed of
120 km/h / 75 mph from the
prototype. This has been done for
operational reasons.
• Manually adjustable acceleration
and braking delay. The braking
delay will not function in conven-
tional operation.
• Direction-dependent triple head-
lights. In digital operation, these
lights can be turned on and off.
In other modes of operation,
these lights work depending on
the voltage present in the track.
• Reproduction prototype coupler
in the front, can be replaced by
a claw coupler that comes with
the locomotive. Despite the claw
coupler mounted on the front, you
may experience problems with
certain cars coupled to the front
of the locomotive, especially when
the locomotive is pushing the cars
and on curves of 1,020 mm /
2
Operation
40-3/16" radius. You should there-
fore check very carefully whether
the cars in your rolling stock roster
can even be coupled this way to
the locomotive.
• Suitable for operation on the
Märklin 1 Gauge track system.
You are at your own risk when
running this locomotive on other
makes of track.
Caution! Running this model on
track with rails made of softer
metals may cause increased
wear on the rails!
The Märklin rails are made of steel
and possess sufficient hardness to
minimize this effect. Also, you may
experience a loss in tractive effort
when poor materials are used for
the rails.
