4. Install bonnet contact switch
and control unit
Only vehicles without bonnet contact switch

Insert bonnet contact switch (1) and terminal
lead (2) into the aperture in the front panel above
the left headlight unit. Screw ground lug (3) on to
ground post (4).
All vehicles
Pre-mount angle bracket 22 (6) and mounting
clamp (7) on the control unit (5) using hexagon-
head screw M6 x 16 mm (8) and hexagon
nut M6 (9). Undo hexagon nut M8 (10) at left
Macpherson strut tower and screw on angle
bracket 22 (6) with control unit (5), straighten
up and tighten.
Cut to length high-voltage line A1 (11) from control
unit in accordance with Chapter 9 and crimp a
terminal contact on to the end of the line.

Procedure
Cut high-voltage line to length in accordance with the general overview in
Chapter 9 and crimp terminal contact on to end of line.
The connecting lines for the other high-voltage wires are made out of the remaining
high-voltage line. Cut high-voltage line to length in accordance with the general
overview in Chapter 9 and crimp terminal contacts on to both line ends.

In engine compartment at left strut tower rear
High-tension wire at vehicle underbody

Only vehicles with bonnet contact switch
At bonnet contact switch in engine compartment
above the left headlight unit, insert line brown/black at
Pin 2 of bonnet contact switch.
Only vehicles without bonnet contact switch
Insert bonnet contact switch with terminal lead above
the left headlight unit, ground cable brown at ground
post in wheel arch front left, connect together line
brown/black with line black.

At ground post X 166 at wheel arch front left

In fuse box on fuse strip,
fuse plug-in place no. 43,
cable colour violet/white

In fuse box on fuse strip,

cable colour red/white.
5. Install and connect lines from
control unit of marten-protection
system

Install lines A4 violet/white and A5 red/white (2) in
the fuse box (3) through the rubber grommet (4) (if
necessary raise upper part (5) of fuse box a little).
Install branch cable A3 brown (6) at vehicle wiring
harness to ground post (7). Shorten branch
cable A3 (6) accordingly. Crimp on ground
lug M6 (8), screw on to ground post (7),
straighten up and tighten. Install branch cable A2
brown/black (9) to bonnet contact switch (13). Fix
all lines with cable ties.
Only vehicles with standard fitted bonnet
contact switch

Pull off 3-contact connector from bonnet contact
switch (2). Shorten accordingly branch cable A2
brown/black (3) coming from control unit and put
on to the line end a single conductor seal (4) and
crimp on contact (5). Dismantle 3-contact
connector (1) by raising locking lugs. Pull off
