SECTION 3

INSTALLING THE LIFT

3 TRANSPORT AND UNLOADING

The MINIBENCH MAXIPLUS is appropriately packed by
the manufacturer before delivery to the forwarding agent
as follows: the lift, the control console, the pull system and
the accessories are placed inside a wooden case.
The whole unit is then secured by plastic straps and
shrink-wrapped.
The MINIBENCH MAXIPLUS must be loaded onto and
unloaded from the transport vehicle only by means of
fork-lift truck with adequate lifting capacity, referring to the
weight specifi ed in the manufacturer's plate.
Unloading using other methods is not advisable as there
are no suitable points on the lift for gripping with lifting
equipment.
For transport, the packing must be attached to the transport
vehicle by means of appropriate retaining systems.
After unloading, the MINIBENCH MAXIPLUS can be
easily transported and handled in the shop by means of
fork-lift truck with adequate capacity.

3.1 INSTALLATION

Operations for installation of the MINIBENCH MAXIPLUS
are described below.
Before starting installation, check that all parts are in
perfect condition and that none are missing.
WARNING!
All
adjustment and testing operations must be
performed
only
personnel who can guarantee operation in
compliance with safety regulations.

3.1.1 CHOOSING THE POSITION

The installation position of the MINIBENCH MAXIPLUS
must be chosen by assessing the following factors:
The position must be safe, free from obstructions and
protected from atmospheric agents.
The area must be well-lit.
The bodyshop must be suitable for installation of the
lift. There must be no sources or work processes that
can produce infl ammable gases or vapours because
the casing of the lift electrical system is not suitable for
operation in this type of environment.
The room temperature must be between 15°C and
45°C.
DANGER! Installation, adjustment and testing
of the lift are dangerous operations and all
the following instructions must therefore
be carefully read: if in doubt contact the
manufacturer directly. SPANESI declines all
responsibility for damage to persons, animals
or property caused by failure to observe the
safety precautions and accident-prevention
directions given in this manual.
The fl oor must be strong enough to withstand the weight of
the MINIBENCH MAXIPLUS and it must be fl at and level.
SPANESI S.p.A. supplies the lift already connected to the
control console.

The supply also includes a Rilsan fl exible pipe for
connection to the compressed air system and a power
supply cable with 4-pin plug for connection to the bodyshop
supply mains control panel.
The fl exible pipe and power supply cable are already fi tted
and approx. 2.5 m long.
This measure is more than enough in the majority of
applications.
If longer connections are required for installing the lift, the
power cable and Rilsan fl exible pipe must be completely
re-done.
Do not under any circumstances splice electrical
cables together.
When the electrical cable is replaced, before starting up
the lift, it is essential to re-check the earthing system by
performing a continuity test on the unipotential protection
circuit.
Assess the control console installation position: it must be
far enough away from the lift and at the same time provide
a good view of the work area.
After positioning the lift, a yellow perimeter band parallel to
the sides of the upper mobile platform and no less than 10
cm wide must be laid on the fl oor around the lift.
This band serves to mark the danger area.
The distance between the internal edge of the yellow band
and the edge of the mobile platform must be no less than:
1,100 cm on the two long sides of the platform;
1,750 cm on the two short sides of the platform.

3.1.2 BEFORE INSTALLATION

Before installing the lift you are advised to check and if
necessary adapt the technical systems existing in the
bodyshop as required.
The pressure of the compressed air supplied must
be at least 6 Bar; if not, an air storage tank must
be provided to guarantee a minimum operation
autonomy.
WARNING! The maximum pressure of the
compressed air must be below 10 Bar. If the
bodyshop compressor safety valve is set to
a pressure above 10 Bar, a fi lter/regulator/
pressure reducer/lubrication unit equipped
with a pressure gauge must be fi tted on the
inlet provided for air supply to the control unit,
and the pressure must be set to a maximum
value of 8 Bar.
Check the lift operating voltage and frequency: they
must correspond to the voltage and frequency of the
bodyshop mains power supply.
The MINIBENCH MAXIPLUS operating voltage
is given in Par. 1.8 of this manual - TECHNICAL
FEATURES.
