1. The travsmart traveller is a mobile anchorage point on
horizontal wire rope EN 795 C. This device can only be used
by one person equipped with a fall arrest harness (EN 361)
and a fall arrest system (EN 363).
2. Before use, it is essential to have received training in the use

of this equipment, have read this manual carefully, as well as
the installation, use and maintenance instructions for
travsmart and travsmart 2 lifelines, and to comply with their
requirements. These instructions must be provided and
stored with each system or component, and be kept at the
disposal of any user.
3. Never use a traveller if there are any doubts concerning its
safety. It is recommended that a visual check is carried out
before each use. Return any traveller which is damaged
and/or does not operate to Tractel

with the traveller.

7. The travellers are suitable for use on an open air site and for
a temperature range of -35°C to +80°C.
8. The instructions for attaching components together to create
a fall arrest system must be followed in accordance with
standard EN 363.
9. During use, the adjustment and attachment elements must
be checked. Check also that the traveller is protected
against any hazards (sharp edges, friction, sources of heat,
twisting, etc)
10. Important: If you are responsible for assigning this
equipment to an employee or similar person, ensure that you
comply with the applicable health and safety at work
regulations.

The Tractel
®
travsmart traveller is designed to take fall arrest
systems. It is essential to check that the use of these fall arrest
devices is appropriate for the technical characteristics of the
lifeline used.
The travsmart traveller is designed for use with the Tractel
travsmart and travsmart 2 lifelines using a single 8 mm diameter
wire rope (stainless steel or galvanised).
Any mounting of the slider using a procedure that does not
comply with this manual is the sole responsibility of the user
or installer.
This traveller should preferably be installed at the TOP position.
When the anchorage point is at ground level it is essential to
protect the fall arrest devices from sharp or abrasive edges.
The travsmart traveller must not, under any circumstances, be
connected below the user workstation.

our travellers, in accordance with the technical description of the

The traveller must always be used with a maximum angle of 15°
to avoid the risk of slipping.
The traveller must be installed and removed in a safe area,
where there is no risk of falling.
Installation of the travsmart traveller is described in the figures
in pages 2, 3 and 4 of this manual.

a. Open the connector by acting on the lock (fig. 1, item 2) and
push in the safety gate (fig. 1, item 3).
b. Fasten the connector to one of the connection holes (fig. 1,
item 9) of the travsmart traveller located at the ends of the
frame (fig. 1, item 8).
c. Allow the safety gate of the connector to come back into
position then secure the gate lock.

To ensure user safety, the lock and the safety gate must be
correctly locked as soon as the connector is in place. The
diameter of the connector body must not exceed 11 mm.

a. Unlock the jaws (fig. 2, item 6) by acting on the lock (item 5).
b. Swivel the jaws (fig. 2, item 6) toward the inside of the
traveller then release the lock (fig. 2, item 5).
c. Insert the travsmart lifeline wire rope (fig. 2, item 10) in the
opening of the traveller then release the jaws (fig. 2, item 6).
d. Check that the jaws (fig. 2, item 6) are correctly secured by
the lock (fig. 2, item 5).

The travsmart slider is the only way to connect the user
to the travsmart and travsmart 2 lifelines. The use of any
other means of connection to Tractel
from all liability.

The travsmart traveller must not be used, under any
circumstances, with the EN 362 connector (fig. 3, item 1)
secured in the toggle opening (fig. 3, item 12). This
configuration can result in premature wear of the traveller at
the anchoring lifeline opening (fig. 3, item 13).
Note:
For LH use of the line, the EN 362 connector must be placed on
the RH connection hole (fig. 3, item 9) of the traveller and
conversely for RH use of the line. Failure to observe this rule will
prevent optimum passage of the traveller at the turn and
intermediate anchors.
