What Is the Al Listening
Point
Control?
The normal listening position is one where
the sound from both the left and right
speakers reaches the listener's ears at the
same time and at the same level.

However, when listening
at a point that is
off-center, such as is shown in the
illustration below, the sound from the right
speaker becomes softer and reaches the
listener later. since it is now farther away
than the left speaker. This creates a sound
image that is shifted to the left.

By delaying the sound from the left speaker
and reducing the volume from the left
speaker, it is possible to create the audio
illusion that the listener is equidistant from
both speakers.

What Is the Al Condition?
This function adds compensation to create
the optimum sound field, regardless
of the
positioning
of the speakers. This unit is
capable of three types of adjustments:
(1) Speaker height

for the speaker height
Although sounds at higher frequency
sounds have higher directionality and
therefore are directed straight out of the
front of the speaker, low-frequency
sound
energy has little directionality
and is
emitted in all directions.
As a result, if a
speaker is placed on the floor, the sound
reflected off of the floor is strong, which
emphasizes
low frequencies. On the other
hand, if the speaker is too far above the

By providing audio compensation for the

Aside from the surround effect generated by
the DSP, reflections in the listening room
also create a surround effect. Although
revecberations
of high-frequency sounds are
absorbed by the walls, etc., the lower the
frequency the more sound that reverberates.
If the wall is soft. too much of the high
frequencies
will be absorbed. Conversely, if
the walls are hard, too much of the high
frequencies
will be reflected. By providing
audio compensation
for the high-frequency
components,
you can listen to music with
the optimum sound quality. regardiess of
the wall material.
What is Dolby Pro Logic Surround?
Dolby Pro Logic Surround is a new
standard fom Dolby Laboratories —
Corporation,
that was developed by
improving the sound unaging capability of
conventional
Dolby Surround. Thanks to
Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corporation's
unique directionality emphasis circuitry,
sound smaging has been greatly improved,
as can be seen in the figure.

Therefore. no special entertainment
