What
is Dolby NR?
Dolby NR is 2 recording technology
that
reduces the high-frequency tape hiss that is
audible
when listening to soft music.
This urut allows you to choose between
two types of norse reduction, Dolby
B and
Dolby C. Although Dolby C provides the
greater noise reduction benefit. if you
intend to playback your tapes
on a
headphone stereo unit or other tape player
that is only equipped with Dolby B, we
recommend
that you record your tapes in
Dolby B.
About the Dolby HX PRO system*
This unit is provided with the Dolby HX
PRO system. The Dolby HX PRO system
provides linearity in hugh-tange frequency
response during recording. Tapes recorded
with this system retain the same high
quality even when played back on other
tape decks.
With the Dolby HX PRO system, the
effective
bias amount added to the bias
current is controlled in millisecond units to
greatly reduce distortion, improving high-
intensity recording with minal distortion
and noise.
¢ Dolby noise reduction and HX Pro
headroom extension manufactured under
license from Dolby Laboratories
Licensing Corporation. HX Pro
originated by Bang & Olufsen.
"DOLBY", the double-D symbol 00) and
"HX PRO" are trademarks of Dolby

What is Synchronized Recording
(Full Auto CD
This is 2 method that simplifies the task of
secording from CDs onto tapes.
Simply pressing the CD SYNCHRO button
on the cassette deck starts up the CD
player, and all operations are performed
automatically, from the setting of the
recosding level to the termination of the
recording,
Repeatedly

about four seconds

Fades out the current track if it will not
fit onto the tape and then terminates
the recording
("1}: To change the side on which recording
is to start. press either the [> or <q]
button dunng this operation.
(°2): This delay is set to ten seconds in
order to make sure that the tape leader
(on which recording is not possible)
has had time to pass.
Note that this urut is equipped with the
"Fade Synchro" function, which prevents a
track from being abruptly cut off when the
tape ends. (See "What is Fade Synchro?)
What is Fade Synchwo?
This function makes it possible to slowly
fade out a recording so that a track is not
abruptly
cut off at the end of the tape.
If the end of side A of the cassette is
reached in the middle of a track, the tape
automatically rewinds to the beginning of
that track
and then begins recording the
same track again. When the end of the tape
approaches during the second recording, the
volume is automatically faded out. (When
malung a one-sided recording, the recording
then ends at this point.)
Assume that the tracks are being
recorded in the sequence that they
are recorded on the CD.
When the CO enters the paused mode, the
deck continues recording silence until the
end of side A is reached; the tape then
reverses and recording on side 6 begins.

Once all of the selected tracks have been
, the tape records about four
seconds of silence and then stops.
What is the ARL (Auto Rec Level)
Function?
This function automatically adjusts the
recording level so that st is suitable for the
volume level of the sound being recorded.
Because
this function will even lower the
level after the start of the recording if an
even louder passage is encountered,
it is
possible to make recordings with minimal
noise
and distortion.
Whenever the recording level is being
adjusted,
the ARL indicator flashes.
What is Tape Select Edit?
Tape Select Edit 1s a function that selects
the exact length of tape needed to record a
particular CD. Once you insert a CD and
press the button, the CD is recorded (with
all of the tracks in the same sequence as on
the CD) on sides A and B automatically.
The optimum length of time needed to
secord the total playback tune 1s shown on
the display. Using
2 tape of the indicated
length makes st possible to record the entire
CD without any tracks being cut off in the
middle.
