To use in combination with the
User Memory
Because the equalizing curve is continually
changing during the playing of a single
track, we recommend that you use this
function in combination with the User
Memory to emphasize the musical qualities
of each track.
1 Press Al PEQ, tuming on the Al
parametric equalizer.
2 Once the unit has adjusted the sound to
suit your tastes, press MEMORY.
3 Using CURSOR CONTROL, select the
icon that you want to store the sound
settings m.
4 Press ENTER.
The next time you play that track, you
can call up the settings from the User
Memory so that you can enjoy the song
with the same equalization every time.
To turn off Al PEQ
Press
Al PEQ again.
"Al PEQ OFF" appears.
When used with the digital
parametric equalizer
The Al indation
appears in the digital
parametric equalizer display.
Note on the Al PEQ display
Changes in the equalizer curve are
displayed for about six seconds. If there are
no changes, the original display returns.
Afterwards, each time a new change is
made, it is displayed for about six seconds.

Adjusting the Sound:
Specifying Listening
Position (Ai LPC)
To achieve true stereo sound, the positions
of the listener and the two speakers should
form an equilateral triangle. By using the Al
Listening Point Control (LPC) feature, you
can enjoy true stereo sound even when you
and your speakers
are not positioned in the
sdeal manner. (See "Glossary.")
1 Press
Al LPC.
The CURSOR CONTROL
indicator and
the ENTER indicator flash, and the Al
LPC adjustment
screen appears.
2 Using the CURSOR CONTROL, select
your listening position.
Select your current position according to
where it would be on screen below.
Im from the center

3 Press ENTER.
The Al LPC indicator
lights.
When you set your position with
the remote commander
Press the numeric button for your current
position while pressing
LPC.
The "5" button functions
as the center
position; you can move the position to the
left (L), nght (R), front (F) and rear (R).
To cancel the setting during
operation
Press CANCEL instead
of ENTER in step 3;
the unit returns to the state it was in before
you pressed
Aj LPC in step 1.
To turn off Al Listening Point
Control
Press ENTER after setting Al LPC
to the
center position.
Dunng recording, set Al LPC to the center
position. However, you can make
recordings with the Al LPC adjusted for
any listening position, such as the dnver's
position in a car.
A you pause during the setting procedure for
more than a minste
Although the screen saver display appears
and the icons flash if you do not press any
of the buttons for more than a minute, the
setting procedure is not interrupted. Press
CURSOR CONTROL, ENTER, or
CANCEL, whichever 1s appropriate, and
continue with the setting procedure.

Adjusting the Sound:
Specifying Speaker
Location (Al condition)
To obtain the truest possible stereo sound
reproduction, you should adjust the position
and height
of the speakers. By using
the Al
Condition feature, you can compensate the
sound field to get true stereo sound without
actually having to move the speakers.
Use the buttons on the preamplifier to
operate this feature. (See "Glossary.")
Note
Turn off Al Condition when you are
secording!
1 Press Al CONDITION.
The CURSOR CONTROL indicator and
the ENTER indicator flash, and the Al
condition adjustment screen appears.
