Precautions
If you have any questions
or problems
concerning your stereo system, please
consult your nearest Sony dealer.
On operating voltage
Before operating the stereo system, check
that the operating voltage of your stereo
system is identical with the voltage of your
local power supply.
Qperating voltage = 1V AC. 60 Hz
On safety
The unit is not disconnected from the AC
Power source (mains) as long as it is
connected to the wali outlet. even if the
unit itself has been tumed off.
eUnplug the system from the wall outlet
(mains)
if it is not to be used tor an
extended period of time. To disconnect
the cord {mains lead), pull it out by the
plug. Never pull the cord itself.
Should any solid object or liquid fall into
the component, unplug the stereo system
and have the component checked by
qualified personnel before operating it any
further.
AC power cord must be changed only at
the qualified service shop.
eAs the laser beam used in this unit is
harmful to the eyes, do not attempt to
disassemble the cabinet. Refer servicing to
qualified personnel only.
On instalation
Place the stereo system in a location with
adequate ventilation to prevent heat
build-up in the stereo system.
On condensation
in the CD player
t
componen
if the system is brought directly from a
cold to a warm location. or is placed in a
very damp room, moisture may condense
on the lens inside the CD player. Should
this occur, the CD player will not operate.
Remove the CD and leave the system
tumed on for about an hour until the
moisture evaporates.
To save a tape permanently
To prevent a tape from being accidentally
recorded over, break
off the cassette tab
from side A or B as illustrated. If you later
want to reuse the tape for recording, cover
the broken tab with adhesive tape.
When you are using a TYPE ff (CrO,) or
TYPE IV (METAL) cassette, be careful not
to cover the detector slots which allow the
tape player to automatically detect the type
of tape.

Notes on the Speakers
Be sure to connect the power cord from
the speakers to the preamplifier last.
Place each speaker on a speaker stand (not
supplied) or a firm surface. If the speaker
is placed on a carpet, the heat from the
power amplifier may cause discoloration
of the carpet.
Do not insert any long. thin objects into
the electrostatic tweeter section.
Attempting to disassemble or clean the
equipment is also dangerous.
Because the diaphragm of the electrostatic
tweeters is extremely light, the volume at
the high-end frequencies will decrease if
water droplets due io spray or
condensation form on the membrane.
elt is sometimes possible to hear the
diaphragm resonating momentarily when
the power
is first tumed on. This is not a
malfunction.
in case color trregularity
is observed on
nearby
TV screen
With the magnetically shielded type of
speaker system, the speakers can be
installed near a TV set. However, color
wregulanty
may still be observed on the TV
seseen depending
on the type
of your TV
set.
if color irregularity
is observed...
Tur off the TV set once. then
turn it on
after 18 to 30 minutes.
