The instrument will automatically reboot if the fault condition is no longer present. The output will
remain off after reboot until the operator reinstates the previous settings, either by the front panel
controls or a computer program. This behavior is consistent with safe operating procedures.
The following conditions will force the output into a protection state and produce a power fail (PF)
status flag. Cycling power will be required to clear the protection:
If the line voltage is less than 83% of the lowest nominal rating for more than one second.
l
If an extreme line-to-line surge approaching 2 kV occurs.
l
The following condition will prevent the instrument from turning on:
If the line frequency is outside the range of 46.5 Hz to 63.5 Hz.
l
In case of an ac mains power failure, the unit will automatically disconnect from the line. This will occur
with the unit either sourcing or sinking current.
Power Cable Connections
Compliance to all regulations for the operation of and connection to the public grid of
energy back-feeding equipment is required.
AC mains connections must be made by a qualified electrician who is knowledgeable
about energy back-feeding equipment to ensure that all applicable safety
requirements have been applied and all necessary conditions have been met.
Knowledge about 3-phase mains circuits and all applicable safety standards and
requirements is also required.
An ac mains power cable is not provided with the unit.
Refer to the following table for the maximum current capacity requirements for each cable conductor.
If required by local electrical codes, install a fuse or circuit breaker between the ac mains and the unit.

The cable cross-section must be suitable for the maximum input current of the
instrument. The ground cable must have the same cross-section as the phase cables.
Possible Equipment Damage Delta-type ac-mains transformers are not supported.
For Wye-type ac-mains connections, the neutral wire must be connected on units
with firmware revision prior to B.06.03.985, otherwise the units will not turn on.
Ensure that no wires other than the neutral wire are connected to the "N" port. If a
Neutral connection is not required, leave the N terminal unconnected.
