Disconnect the AC supply lead from the unit.
DB Place the unit on a soft surface, such as a sofa or blanket, in order not
to damage the cabinet or dust cover, and remove the battery compart-
ment cover. (Fig. 1)

Insert ten new type HP-2 or UM/SUM-1
batteries (1.5 cell) into the
battery compartment as shown in Fig. 2,

the ribbon underneath the batteries.
The ribbon will facilitate —
their
later
removal.
Be
sure
to
observe
correct
polarity
for all
batteries.

Replace the battery compartment cover.
The unit can now be operated
on its internal battery power supply.

will help prevent possible damage to the unit due to battery leakage.

accumulate
between the batteries and battery termi-

the POWER
switch
to the
"M STAND-BY"
position,
remove
the old
batteries and replace them with new ones.
Note
When
the batteries
are
low, even
though
you
can
hear the radio you
may
not be able to play records or tapes.
So replace the batteries as.
soon as possible.
When using this stereo system indoor, it is advisable to use an AC power
source.
OPERATION
WITH
EXTERNAL
DC POWER
SUPPLY
(15 VOLTS)
You cannot play records on this unit inside a car.
It has been designed to
operate within a range of DC 12 to 16 volts. When operating on a DC 12V
car battery
with negative ground,
use acar battery adaptor (not supplied).
When using a car battery as a power source, be sure to keep the unit out
of direct sunlight outside of the car and to place it on a level surface,

Connect the supply lead with plug of the adaptor to the external DC
input socket (DC 15).

Connect
the
other
end
of the
lead
into the cigarette
lighter
socket
of the car's instrument panel.
Note
Use of an external
DC power source
automatically cuts off the elec-
trical current from the internal batteries.
