Using the Protection Function
Protection function
Each output has independent protection functions. A front panel status indicator will turn on when a protection
function is set. Protection functions are latching, which means that they must be cleared once they are set.
Of the following protection functions, only OV, OC, LIM+ and UVI are user-programmable.
– OV: Over-voltage protection is a hardware OVP whose trip level is programmable. The OVP is enabled by
default. In Load mode, the over-voltage protection level is not programmable and is fixed at 110% of the rated
input voltage.
– OV-: Negative voltage protection is a hardware OVP.
– OC: Over-current protection is a programmable function that can be enabled or disabled. When enabled, the
output will be disabled when the output current reaches the current limit setting.
– OT: Over-temperature protection monitors the temperature of each output and shuts down the output if any
temperature exceeds the maximum factory-defined limits.
– CP+: CP+ indicates that a positive power limit condition has disabled the output. Refer to
tection
for further information.
– INH: The Inhibit input (pin 3) on the rear panel digital connector can be programmed to act as an external shut-
down signal. Refer to
– LIM+: In CV, CP and CV mode, LIM+ indicates the output is in positive current limit. In CC mode, LIM+ indicates
the output is in positive voltage limit.
– UVI: Under-voltage inhibit (UVI) protection. UVI is disabled by default. Refer to
information.
Configuring protection
