EN 12841-C
(150 KG: 10,0 – 11,8 MM / 200 KG: 10,0 – 11,5 MM):
Devices according Type C are designed for moving along
a working rope. It should always be used in conjunction
with a back-up device certified to EN 12841-A on a sec-
ond independent rope when working at height. Only to
be used with ropes according to EN 1891.
Ropes tested during the EN 12841 type C certification:
• EDELRID Performance Static 10,0 mm.
• EDELRID Performance Static 11,5 mm.
• EDELRID Bucco 11,8 mm.
EN 341-2A (PERFORMANCE STATIC 11,0 MM):
In the context of EN 341, the descender device is intend-
ed for rescue purposes only. Only use the dedicated
rope. Take care to not select a descent route with obsta-
cles. Always ensure a controlled descent, as it is difficult
to regain control if it is lost. When left in place at the
workstation between inspections, the device must be
protected from environmental influences.
ANSI/ASSE Z359.4 (10,0 – 11,5 MM):
The rescuer should take care when using the equipment
around moving machinery and electrical hazards, near
sharp edge and abrasive surfaces as well as chemicals
and harsh environment. Take also care when descending
to avoid any hazards in the path such as electrical, ther-
mal, chemical sources or any other hazards.
EN 15151-1 (8,9 – 11,0 MM):
Type 8 – device for belaying and abseiling with a panic
locking element. The braking effect depends on the rope
diameter, its characteristics. Therefore, the user should
familiarise himself with the braking effect before each
use. In the context of EN 15151-1, the braking device is
intended for mountaineering, climbing or similar.
1. USE LIMITATION
The descender reaches its performance limits when all
of the parameters are used at their allowed maximum.
Under these extreme use conditions, there is a risk of
losing control of the descent and/or damaging the rope.
You must be alert and not hesitate to take special pre-
cautions (add friction, reduce speed, split the descent
into shorter sections using intermediate anchors...). At-
tention: Diameters of commercially available ropes can
deviate by up to 0.2 mm.
a) For use according to EN 12841-C: The allowed maxi-
mum speed and the possible diameter range varies
depending on the user weight. Braking rope redirec-
tion must be applied for loads above 120 kg.
b) For use according to EN 341-2A: Only the EDELRID
Performance Static 11,0 mm including Weblink must
be used. With a maximum descent energy of 7,5 x 10
The max. descent height and/or maximum number of
consecutive descents must be calculated according to
the following formula: Maximum descent energy
(J) = gravity acceleration (g=9,81 m/s²) x load (m[kg])
x descent height (h[m]) x number of descents (n).
c) For use according to ANSI/ASSE Z359.4: This De-
scent device is designed for repeated or multiple uses
up to a descent energy of 300,000 foot-pounds
(406,750 Joules). The descent energy rating is deter-
mined by Maximum descent energy rating (E[ft. lbs]) =
weight (W[lbs]) x descent height (H[ft]) x number of
descents (n). The maximum number of descents may
vary with different descent heights and user weights.
Examples:
Number of consecutive descents with 59 kg/130 lbs
and 200 m (100 m): 3 (6)
Number of consecutive descents with 141 kg/310 lbs
and 200 m (100 m): 2 (4)
d) For use according to EN 15151-1: Only use ropes ac-
cording to EN 1891 or EN 892 within a diameter range
of 8,9 mm to 11,0 mm.
2. NOMENCLATURE OF PARTS
A: Screw hole for permanent closure, B: Opening push
button, C: Attachment point of the device, D: RFID Chip,
E: Marking, F: Releasing lever, G: Outlet opening an-
chored rope end, H: Outlet opening braking rope end,
I: Braking cam, J: Rope channel
3. INSTALLATION
Make sure that this product is compatible with the other
elements of the system in your application and complies
with the applicable legal framework.
a) Correct installation of the rope into the device – Make
sure to do a function test at the end by quickly pulling on
the anchored rope end and check that the device locks.
