Rear axle differential lock
Front axle differential lock
Brakes
1. With the gear-change lever 10 and the rocker switch for the groups 19 select the desired
gear. Engage forward or reverse drive with the drive-direction lever 9.
2. Depress the clutch pedal 6 fully before each gear change. Never force the gear-change
lever 10. If the desired gear will not engage easily, briefly engage the clutch and repeat
the gear change procedure.
Do not use the clutch pedal as a foot rest.
NOTE
When engaging the clutch release the brakes and do not release the clutch abruptly. When
on a slope do not disengage the clutch and allow the vehicle to roll. If this is done when a low
gear is engaged the clutch can be made to turn too rapidly and may be destroyed.
Turn on and off using the flip switch 12.
NOTE
Setting switch 12 does not in all circumstances immediately lock the inter-axle differential.
The lock can act only when the front and rear axles are not rotating at the same speed.
Turning off switch 12 does not in all circumstances immediately release the inter-axle differ-
ential. The lock can release only when there is no longer any torque difference between the
front and rear axles.
If the inter-axle differential remains locked after it has been switched off, drive in a curve (this
creates a difference in speed of rotation between front and rear).
WARNING
Before moving onto steep terrain the inter-axle differential lock must be engaged.
The lock is correctly engaged when only the green indicator light 29b is illuminated and the
yellow indicator light 29a is extinguished.
NOTE
When driving on a road, lock the inter-axle differential only under difficult conditions (snow,
ice, unmade road etc.), or if there is a large difference in axle load.
NOTE
As a rule a pre-selectable differential engages after some delay. Actual engagement of the
differential takes place at the latest when the speeds of rotation of the wheels are different.
A pre-selectable differential disengages after some delay. Actual disengagement of the dif-
ferential takes place at the latest when the torque difference existing between the right-hand
and left-hand wheel, or between the front and rear axles, has been removed.
NOTE
The front and rear differential locks prevent one-sided wheel spinning on slippery ground
(sodden ground, snow, ice). Engage the locks only when necessary. On roads which provide
a good grip always drive with the differential locks disengaged.
Turn on and off using the flip switch 11.
Turn on and off using the flip switch 13.

Stopping on gradients: When working on hills wherever possible the vehicle should be posi-
tioned at right-angles to the slope.
If this is not possible proceed as follows:
1. Turn steering full lock against the direction of slope.
2. Select lowest gear which would give and uphill motion.
3. Pull hand-brake.
4. Place chock.
